RE: The ASHES 2006/7

Well, Hoggy did the business, didn't he?

This one is looking like a draw.

Ponting and Husset are going to be the thorns in the side. Everyone else has chinks in their armour!

Need Harmy and fReddie to fire tomorrow!(tonight)

To get a positive result in this match for england the first hour tonight is crucial...

If they can bag gilchrist and clark in that hour then hopefully england can get them out sub 400 and bat the remaining time on day 4 and set them 350 minimum day 5.

Maybe its time for Harmy to get stuck in....would not surprise me !

you had to laugh at the 7 runs overthrows tho.

it was shambles. poor decision on strauss, but bell's run out was a joke, the KP went for one when he hadnt even strecthed. Collingwood it about the only one who can hold his head up high in the 2nd innings. btw why is anderson in the squad not monty?

Hurts me to say this, but anyone who thinks England have a hope in a million of competing here are fooling only themselves. 5-0 Aussies.

I fully expected England to win. Everything was geared towards an England win. Everyone was so positive, England had played well for 2 years previously. I'm just not feeling it this time. 5-0 or 4-0 Aussies.

Never been so unhappy to be right.

I'm not actually sure you are right.

We've competed quite well. The difference has been in mentality and preparation.

Also, we're only two matches in. Maybe quoting yourself after 4 or 5 matches would be better as there is plenty of cricket to be played...

We haven't really competed. First test we were completely outplayed, never competed at all. In this test, all we did was compile a big score on a road of a pitch in the first innings, anything else would have been terrible. From then on, Aussies had it their own way completely. Even in the first innings we didn't score at much of a rate. I know we're only 2 tests in but surely England can't come back from that. We need to win at least 2 wins and a draw from last 3, we are an inferior side, we are completely deflated, Aussies are full of confidence, we are tactically inept and too defensive, Aussies are positive and know how to win matches, we have a coach who is stubborn and can't even put our best team on the field for the biggest matches of the year, Aussies don't even really need to worry about team selection as the Melbourne Old Dears Third XI could beat us at the moment.

I really hope I'm wrong and we come roaring back and make biggest comeback of all time, but like I said at start, if you're honest with yourself it ain't happening in a million years.

If I had scored a double century and you told me I hadn't competed I would go spare.

How is having a bigger first innings total not competing? How if we only won the first day were we ahead on first innings after 3 and a half days, and 59-1?

We lost this test on the fifth day and we lost the first test on the 1st day. For the other 8 days England have actually played alright considering all the other factors you mention.

Everythong else you said is fair enough.

So.

3rd Test in Perth.

Australia win the toss and bat. Here we go again!

OH NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Australia all out for 244!

Panesar 5 for and Harmy is back with a 4 for!

Ponting out for 2 which "justifies" my comments about Australia being brittle when we get him cheaply!

16 overs left on first day for Englands openers to play positively but not get out!
