Hi everybody. I've been pointed to this thread from the men's discussion section.
My name's RedCabbage (not actually my real name) and I'm a 30yr-old fellow from Brighton.
Like the rest of the universe I've known of the existence of tennis since I was a wee chillun but it usurper footy (I'm a Gillingham FC) as my favourite sport around the time when Murray came to prominence (Wimbledon/Stella 05) and there seemed to be a new excitement around the sport. I've followed the british players closely for about 18 months, gradually expending my horizons from following ATP/slam/masters tournies only (online, usually - I don't have sky) to WTA, ITF (including juniors) and recently LTA (there's a lot of players out there!!).
I've only been to two tournaments and just loved both of them. I was at day 1 of Eastbourne qualies (where I saw Melanie South lose horribly to Brandi amongst other matches - she seems to have picked up a bit since then!) and queued early for the Wimbledon saturday where I caught the final set of Murray beating Roddick on a recycled ticket (we missed a couple of hours because we had to catch England getting knocked out of the world cup at a local pub).
I support all of the british players but I do have my favourites. My friend Ali met Oliver Kalaitzis' parents in Crete so we like to look out for him; Daniel Cox's career looks like it might be very exciting so I try to keep track of what he's up to; Natasha Khan is a Brighton girl and you gotta support the local talent; the Ren sisters are, of course, terribly young but obviously unusually talented. Plus some others.
This forum looks like exactly the sort of place where I can absorb my fill of tennis info and I look forward to a long stay here.

Count Zero replied "hi there,
its nice to have another gills fan around (although i also support the gunners, but i doubt they will be meeting very often).
how about it at the weekend 2 stoppage time goals and it was us that won!! its almost a mircale. "
RedCabbage replied "Against Chesterfield, right? That was a bit of a surprise since we seem to be pretty adept at throwing leads away this season (twice lost a 3-goal lead, iirc). Onwards and upwards!"
