I agree totally about the aural test imoen, I think it unfairly favours singers who would find the test quite easy. Also, if you haven't got a good voice it's virtually impossibly to do well in it. Someone told me that the reason for the aural is to test your musical aptitude but I think it's completely unnecessary as most people doing grade 8 would have done GCSE Music and will be doing A level music and both those exams are good enough tests of your musical aptitude. If they really wanted to encorporate such a test into the Grade 8, surely a short listening test would be fairer.
Good luck in your exam next week, are you confident ? Does that exam count towards your final mark ? How do you find the terms ? Do you think that everything seems to have been squashed into too short a space of time ? Do you play tennis at all ?
my exam doesn't count next week although i do have to pass it in order to progress to the second year! my terms are 10 weeks each and it doesn't really seem like everything is packed in, in fact we don't really do much during the first and last week so it could almost be a week or two shorter with little difference. however, my course is less work intensive than others and is very much about how quickly you read and how able you are to recognise what needs to be done and what doesn't so others may find it harder than myself.
As for Tennis i don't play, preferring to watch. however i'm sure that (like all sports) if i did play i would be the British number 1 by now!
I also 'qualified' for latin in 2nd year of high school (scotland). The class was quickly split into 2 groups.........one group for those who would get to sit the o'grade.....the other was for playing cards....my group ?.......well lets just put it this way all i can remember is amo, amas.....! Wanted to be a lawyer back then......now an architect !
