Jamie was competitive for the 1st set, which is quite encouraging, but after losing that on a tiebreak, he changed from Jamie Baker into Jamie Bagelled.
R2: Jamie Baker WR 322 lost to (3) Kevin Kim (USA) WR 107 by 7-6(3) 6-0

probably best to call it quits until next season I reckon.
If he has this training block in Florida with some of the other boys coming up that would probably be more useful than one or two rounds of qualifying.

Not a good move in my opinion. He hasn't played much tennis, so he can't be tired. He would have been the top seed by a big margin and the other seed in his quarter would have been world number 644 James Pade - ranked 322 places below Jamie!!
(On a different note, 16 year old Kei Nishikori is the third seed in qualies. He will crack the top 600 if he qualifies.)
Given what the cut must be for the no. 1 qualifying seed to be ranked so low, it's a pity Jamie didn't enter for the main draw!
Still Hawaii is a long way from the US mainland - it's probably further from Naples Florida than London is, so it would have been like going to another continent to play.

Hawaii is far from the mainland indeed, but you should be prepared to travel if you dream of becoming a top player. Even more so when a 16 year old is prepared to travel the same distance.
I hope that Jamie has taken the right decision, and there is a proper motive behind it.
