RE: 25k Nuriootpa

Georgie (inspired by ashes fever!) won overnight in Oz defeating fifth seed Yurika Sema of Japan 63 64.

Another 25K QF for Georgie!

QF opponent is Mel's conquerer, Nicole Kriz of Australia!

There are no seeds left in bottom half of the draw. Georgie could really take advantage here if she can grind out a couple more wins!

Kriz is 22 and ranked 407. She hasn't gone past the last sixteen in any of these Aussie tournaments so far this winter/summer.

I'm really hopeful that Georgie can prove Mel was off-form and pull out a win that will put her in the semis!

What will this do for her ranking?

before the 3 weeks tour, she had 2 reach 3 QFs to get into the top 300. already got 2 QFs under her belt, if she reaches the final, then i think she will reach the top 300.

More good news:

QF: (Q) Georgie Stoop (GBR) WR 387 beat (Q) Nicole Kriz (AUS) WR 407 by 6-2 6-2

A very convincing win against the player who knocked Mel South out.

She now plays yet another qualifier for a place in the Final:

SF: (Q) Georgie Stoop (GBR) WR 387 v (Q) Antonia Matic (GER) WR 397

Get in!

And another good chance to progress! Georgie is on fire. I think this will put her above Cavaday in the rankings!

Well done Georgie!

She must have had a pretty good year. I remember her being the lowest ranked woman in the Eastbourne qualies so must have been waay lower than her current ranking.

Great news.

Well done Stoop!

i have checked what it might do her ranking, though i think my calculations are absolutely WRONG!

Since she reached the final, she probably be ranked roughly or OTT 274  i dont think thats right though!

if she wins her first 25k: 233 again it might be wrong!

Apologies if i have messed up the calculations!

Georgie's first 25K final. Here's hoping it is 25K win!

Going great.

Rankings. Georgie has 47.5 points.

She has 5 to add from last week

If she loses the final she gets 18.5 points, if she wins 26.5 (MD points + Qualie).

=>23.5 or 31.5 points coming on the next 10 days.

23.5 points (losing final)=71 points = c. 307th

31.5 points (winning final)=79 points = c.296th

I think....

Final opponent = American Raquel Kops-Jones world ranked 256. Serve and volleyer. Beat Grandin in semis so no pushover. I think Georgie likes a target so could be an interesting final!

Excellent week from Stoop . Hopefully nerves don't play too much of a part in her first 25k final! Good Luck!

Congrats Georgie on your first 25k title!and the first of many for years to come!

A very good tour looking from a brit perspective! Georgie winning her first 25k, South reaching the semis. Jane O'Donoghue can take some positives as well. As well as Cavaday reaching a QF in the outback! Plus other girls who attempted qualifying especially Natasha Khan, qualified for one and reached the second round but other two tournies just missed out.

Moving onto the AO qualies, do you think Stoop might have a chance at qualifying?
