RE: Masters Cup

thats a schock.

back to the journo, come on he is covering the end of year masters, henman has rounded on the journlists b4, the favt is roddick came closer to beating fed then he has in several years, and one ace could have changed everything.

maybe a question like you came very close to winning with s&v today, it must be encouragng  etc.

got to say sorry for the A rod, he has played so well, and still bee knocked out, from that i have seen fed, blake, roddick and probably rafa deserve to go through,

so we now know that fed, blake, nably are in it, and i trhink the last s.lot will be  between nadal/davy right? to be honets davy could take it. i hope the final is blake/nadal v federer.

edit: i got it wrong, if lubo bts fed then he goes through, so its a diffciult situation normally you have fed win it, but he might not try that hard, also payback for losing to nably last year? its unsporting, but it the fault of the flawed RR system.

Ljuby could still keep Nalbandian out if he beats Fed today..... far fetched, I know...

All these complications make me even MORE sure that I hate the idea of round robins next year! Imagine going through all these ifs, ands, or buts when Andy plays

I agree, it seems really unfair to me that because someone needed three sets to beat an opponent, they are then excluded from the next round (thinking of Roddick here I admit) whereas someone who couldn't win the matches, but managed to take them to three sets does go through (Nalbandian). Ahh, it's all too confusing.

I hope they don't keep the round robin thing after trialing it next year. But you never know, according to the WTA the on-court coaching has been really popular with the fans and tv guys but I've only seen criticism of it so where are these 'fans'??

yeah round robin thing isn't good! don't think its great with 4 ppl in a group, so with 3 ppl think would be even worse!

consider these scenarios:  Boggo, Fed and Nadal in a group:

Say, Boggo beats Fed, then Boggo beats Nadal, there's no point in Fed vs Nadal being played!

Alternatively, if Boggo beats Fed in 2 sets, then Fed beats Nadal in 3: then for Boggo vs Nadal: if nadal wins in straight sets he goes through, but if Nadal only wins in 3 sets then Boggo goes through!  Means that once boggo has won a set, the players might as well go home! Furthermore, once Nadal wins a set vs Fed in the 2nd game, again the players might as well go home as Fed will have no chance of progressing, having lost to Boggo in 2!

That was the point I was trying to make, but you make it much clearer, thanks! Oh and I love the scenario being Fed, Boggo and Nadal, especially as in each of your outcomes it's Boggo who goes through!!

actaully i can see this very eventuality this time next year.

but back to the present, fed doesnt mess and beat lubo 6 abnd 4 (ithink) to mean its now blakde, fed, nalby and davy/nadal left it it.

Davydenko takes the first set off Nadal, but Rafa's a break up in the second. 7-5 1-2*

As confirmed on the Marray v Starace thread, nadal won 5-7 6-4 6-4 i think federer will win the semis, i still dont think we have seen the best of nadal yet and he still trying to get the confidence back.

nalby v blake - tough one to call, though i'll give nalby the edge. and we will have a rematch of nalby v fed masters no.4! (incl. last years masters cup matches!)

btw extra credit to nably, he just found out this week his godson was crushed to death in a freak elevator accident.

that aside i want blake to win, he seems like a nice man.

Robredo won. I'm by no means accusing Blake of tanking, but surely, having already qualified, he wouldn't be too bothered who won the match and may well have been making sure he didn't injure himself or tire himself ahead of tomorrow's semi.

maybe blake was trying a few things out, mixing it up etc, but not over doing it, there is no point after all from him
