That's a really really tough one. I don't think it's Johansson, I'll go with Miniussi but have no idea about which event and when.

Re my question on the titles:

Greenleaf got it right: Boggo for the mens with 3 titles and Anne K for the womens. Anne won 2 titles, several of the others reached more finals than her but didn't win more than 1 title.

I'll go for Miniussi in one of those anonymous (to us) South American clay court tournaments in the early 1990s.

I think it was 1998 or 1999 aswell. I first started following tennis seriously in 1999 and I can vaguely remember there being at least 4 in the top 200, Sam Smith was still top 100 as she got direct entry to the French before her Wimbledon points dropped off the following month.

I posted the question as I was hoping you'd know for sure !

It was definately in the final of one of the summer master series events on North American hardcourts.

Hmmm.....

I think it was the final of TMS Toronto [as I'm sure that when Roddick won Cincinatti this year, the pundits said that it was the first time he'd won there]. Pretty sure that it was in 2003.

Think the score was 7-6, 6-4 but may be wrong about that

yeah well done .. it was toronto, but in 2003 and it wasnt the final , it was the semis
