Jamie and Brendan Evans are currently on court in their rd1 doubles match. They've taken the 1st set 7-5 but are serving at 1-5 in the 2nd, a double break down.
Superb win for Jamie, looks like Smyczek upped his level in set 2 and came back strongly but great to see that it didn't faze Jamie and he hung on in the 3rd. Congratulations to him on qualifying for a challenger, should hopefully be a great boost for his confidence and hopefully it'll spur him on to a couple of wins in the main draw. Guaranteed 4 points for this tournament now which is handy given that his 8 points from the GB 4 satellite last year, drop off next Monday. If he wins a round in the main draw, he'll defend all his points.

I'm surprised that Richard lost so easily indoors, I thought it'd be a lot closer than that. However, I think that a lot of people completely underestimated Sa. He's 29 now but has been as high as 55 in the world and was a top 100 player for a long time. He also reached no 46 in the doubles and is still in the top 100, ranked 76. In 2002 he reached the Wimbledon quarter-finals, taking a set off Henman. This year, he's made 2 challenger finals and a string of semis and quarters.
Jamie and Brendon Evans won their rd1 doubles match 7-5, 1-6, 10-8
Jamie plays Sam Warburg today in rd1 of the singles. Match starts at approx 9pm. Warburg is ranked 203, he made the quarters of Nashville last week. He beat Phillippoussis in straights recently. His other 2006 highlights are making the final of the Yuba City challenger, reaching the semis of Binghamton and the quarters of New Orleans and Vancouver. He qualified for ATP San Jose and beat Joachim Johansson before losing to Hewitt in rd2. He's also won futures titles in Costa Rica and Korea.

Very tricky draw for Jamie
Great that Jamie has qualified, a good reward for sticking at it through a tough time.
Warburg will be tough but at this level, it's not a terrible draw, I wouldnt say.
Of all tyrannies a tyranny exercised for the good of its victim may be the most oppressive.... those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience
Great having a scoreboard at all for a Challenger, but it seems the person in charge of updating has a lot of other jobs to do as well, or takes an awful lot of breaks!

Honestly, if he manages to lose the match with one break of serve in each set (i think!), then its good to see baker toughing it out after all, Warburg is an upcoming player, even though he may be one dimensional!
