Alex won the 1st set 6-1 and is serving first in the 2nd
Great news, he's really been on fire in his matches this week ! He doesn't usually win sets by 1 or 2, usually prefers to make his fans sweat a bit more
Shame about Slabba, I'm still confident he'll qualify for both though.

Does this mean we've seen the end of the "go 1-5 down in the first set just to put the opponent off their game" tactic as patented at Mons?
lets hope so, this is alex's 9 challenger qf, 3 have gone to finals 5 to quarters. the stats are against him but lets hope ha can impove them.
thw fact that alex has reached 9 challenegr qf's this year show how weel hes been playing i think, if it hadnt been for those 2 long injury layoffs, along with some gitty draws, recently and in the grass court season i am certain he would have been top 100 now, but such is the way of tennis.

Good result for Bamford and May there. They travel to the Czech Republic after this.
Hutchins is also supposed to be there, so he can team up with Josh for doubles.
It'll be very interesting to see what they will do next year. They qualified for Wimbly and did well against Aspelin/Perry, so you have to take some notice.

When I spoke to Jim on Tuesday he was still trying to persuade Bammy to go to Czech REp, I know he said he was going anyway but wasnt sure if Neil would or not.
