RE: Shewsbury challenger

from mtf:

Bubka 6-4 6-6 ret.
Labadze 1-6 2-6
Juska 4-6 6-1 6-4
Economidis 2-6 3-6
Clemens 6-7(6) 4-6
Cipolla 5-7 5-7
Goodall 6-3 6-2
Marx 2-6 6-7(5)

says he called the tournament, if so more helpful than yestderay.

interstingly if both labadze and ecoman lost boggo is the only seed left in his half.

James lost 7-6[4], 7-6[5]

I got the first set score wrong in my earlier post. James was far from his best today, was very flat, match he should have won.

Josh and Stak both have big serves, I'd say Josh is the bigger hitter from the back but both can be very inconsistent. Really great win, I thought he had a chance but didn't think he'd win that easily. He's improved so much this year, with not much to defend in the 1st half of 2007, hopefully he can really push on into top 200.

LOl, Norman was 6-2 down in 2nd set breaker, so 4 mps for Bubka. He'd just been docked a point by the umpire so maybe felt like being a bit of a git. He called the trainer, spent quite a bit of time with him then retired !

Bladetiger's now at Shrewsbury to watch Jonny's match.

I've checked the results he gave me and they agree. The winners in the matches where only the loser's name is shown on MTF were:

Bubka 6-4 6-6 ret. (Norman lost)
Labadze 1-6 2-6 - Ryderstedt won
Juska 4-6 6-1 6-4 (Guez lost)
Economidis 2-6 3-6 - Meffert won
Clemens 6-7(6) 4-6 - Zverev won
Cipolla 5-7 5-7 - Vico won
Goodall 6-3 6-2 - Blade says 2 & 2, either way it's a fantastic win against Stakh
Marx 2-6 6-7(5) - Navarro Pastor won

Burgsmuller took the 1st set 7-6 v no. 1 seed Pless

Confirmed that Boggo is now the only seed left in the bottom half of the draw

so looking at the way its opening up, boggo/macpopp plays nielsen/ryderst

josh plays ms muffet, then also with jonny/berrer playing bubka.

with aucks + bloomers out, and lee up aginmst the 3rd seed in rd2 it looks like our attention will be on the bottom, half of the draw, although so far our progession from rd 1 to rd2 has been poor i think.

however unless alex slips up he must be looking good to get real deep into this event.

Not sure what's happened to Bladetiger, no messages from him and if I try to send I get an error.
