Goodall and Stakhovsky haven't played before, I give Josh a 50:50 chance of winning; reckon it'll be 3 sets whatever the outcome. Stak is ranked 180, he's been yo-yoing from 160-200 all year. He's lost his last 3 matches: 6-4, 6-4 to Lukas Dlouhy in Dnepropetrovsk rd1, 6-4, 7-6 to Pavel Cervenak in Bratislava and a 3 set loss to Del Potro in Aachen rd2 after beating Auckland 3 and 2 in rd1. However, these were tough draws. Dlouhy is top 100 and had just made the Bratislava final, Cervenak went on to have the week of his career in Bratislava making the semis though imo Stak got his tactics all wrong in that match. His 2006 highlights have been 2 challenger semis and qualifying for ATP Moscow and beating Tursunov in 3 sets in rd1 before losing to Clement. Boggo and Martin Lee have beaten him this year.
Auckland has a 2-0 H-H lead over Nielsen. He won 6-4, 6-1 in 2003 and 7-6, 6-3 in 2005; both matches in GB futures indoors. Nielsen is ranked 343, he's had lots of success in the futures - 5 finals this year and 2 semis but in challengers the wins have dried up apart from the Dublin challenger when he made the quarters before losing to eventual finalist Bloomfield.
Berrer has a 2-1 H-H lead over Marray. Jonny won 6-0, 6-2 back in 2003 in a futures but Berrer levelled the scores the very next week with a 6-4, 6-4 win. They met earlier this year in rd1 of the Wolfsburg challenger, Berrer won 7-5, 6-4. Berrer is ranked 153 [peaked at 104 in July]. He's the geezer that Delgy beat in 5 sets at Wimby. Like Jonny, Berrer is on top form. He won the Helsinki challenger last week and the week before he made the semis of Eckental after beating Goodall in 3 sets in rd1.
so..at the end of the day..who is playing against alex in 2.round????
Hi De Niro, welcome
It's Mackin. He beat Popp 6-4, 6-3 yesterday, Alex and Mike told us that so it must be correct. The LTA official who'd been watching the match also said the same thing yesterday afternoon, there's just been a mix-up at the tournament office - they've got the players the wrong way round and have sent that to the ATP and BBC.
so..at the end of the day..who is playing against alex in 2.round????
LTA news page has been posted today (see link) and they say -
"Bogdanovic next faces German Torsten Popp, who beat Scot Alan Mackin 6-4, 6-3 on Monday."
So perhaps it is correct afterall!
The website guys are just going by the erroneous info which has been sent to them by the Shrewsbury tournament office. The website guys aren't at the tournament; they got the quote from Alex off alexbogdanovic.com.
Believe me, Mackin must have won. How could Alan's coach and Boggo, both get the result wrong !!! Boggo probably watched the match and Mike would have heard from Alan himself.
Amy Gaulton, the main LTA official at the challenger has confirmed that she made a mistake yesterday. She told me that Mackin won and instead it was Popp who won 4 and 3.
The main question now is, how did Mike Raphael get the result wrong. This is my theory:
Mike isn't at the challenger this week so he'll have been getting the results from Mackin himself. Maybe after getting a verbal bashing last week after losing to Knittel from 5-3 up in the final set; Mackin couldn't face another one just 3 days later and thought that he'd better make out that he won to postpone facing the Raphael wrath for another couple of days.

LOL, I know Count, I think we'd better retreat with our tails between our legs
I still can't quite believe that Mackin lost to a clay-courter aswell, I suppose we're so used to Mackin beating these guys ranked about 200ish in indoor challengers.
He was 4-2 up in the first set aswell Popp must have really upped his level

So have Greg and Andy in the DC.
Shame about Mackin, such a bizarre misunderstanding. I still hope he won, probably won't be 100% convinced until the OOP comes out this evening!

Sounds like another month in the shed for you.
Or penance as "ultimatepoppfan" perhaps .....
Nooo, not another month in the shed It's so cold out there and the rats have eaten right through my poster of Webley-Smith. Will you not take pity on your poor ultimateshedman ?
Anyway, it was Count and Bladetiger who started it on MTF ! Because of that, surely they should take the lion's share of the punishment
Lol Johnny, luckily I have 3 different accounts on MTF. I think that goslabs will retire from public life now for the time being
