Luckily, no: he made R16, for 25 points, which is his 21st score, so doesn't count for his ranking. He did make the quarters in Dubai in Feb last year.

Just the one ATP, I think: the seedings will be decided based on the rankings the week before the AO (which is weeks 3 & 4). So there's only the tournaments in week 1 that will count towards the seeding: Doha, Adelaide and Chennai.

Just noticed one of the Q & A's on Tim's Official site this week:
Congratulations on the recent success you have enjoyed in your last few tournaments! Do you think you will be able to get seeded at the Australian Open next year?
From: David Tim says: ”It’s going to be difficult as they seed 32 players and I’m currently ranked 39, but it depends; some players might not play in Australia for whatever reason or may be injured so there’s a chance, but it’s quite a slim one.”
He doesn't seem to acknowledge the fact that he still has a chance to gain ranking points. Is there a chance we are mistaken that he can still get top 32, or maybe he just doesn't realise himself???

It may be that he has decided not to play that first week. Also, the chances of him getting into the top 32 even if he does play are pretty slim, he would basically have to win the tournament or reach the final to be absolutely certain as many around him will be playing as well. My guess is that Tim isn't sure yet of his plans so doesn't want to give false hope based on results he hasn't got yet.

i think the seedings may be decided before the end of the week 1 tournaments. in which case tim has no chance to boost his rankings. though this may not be the case - can't really remember!
Just to re-confirm...seedings are based on rankings the Monday before the tournament starts so in this case the week after Doha, Adelaide, Chennai...FACT!
