RE: Tim's Competitors Week 44 - Paris Masters

I am fairly confident that Seagull is right, and that seedings depend entirely on the position on the Monday before the draw is made.

The first post is updated: Safin, Almagro and Rochus all overtake Tim So he's now pegged back to 38th after just one day of the tournament

Vliegen and Ginepri also advance. Going out are: Acasuso, Verdasco, Simon and Bjorkman.

Tuesday could see Chela  overtake, and send Tim's ranking right back to where it ended last week. Apart from him, we can set our minds at rest for a few days: no-one else can overtake until they reach the quarters. Benneteau, Massu, Clement and Monfils  could all overtake on Thursday. Clement & Massu play each other today.

Looks like the pins going into Srichaphan from the Andy thread have done for Tim's ranking here. Chela  wins after Paradorn retires hurt... Tim down to 39th

Seedings are definately based after Week 1 has finished. Guys like Malisse, Hrbaty and Volandri have big points to defend in that week as well so still good chances for Tim to get a seeding.

Wawrinka's seen off Gicquel. Benneteau  is a set down against Santoro.

Not too bad a Tuesday for Tim in the end........

.......despite Chela overtaking, and knocking Tim down to 39th again, despite the extra 25 points.

Only  Ginepri advanced behind him, while a long list went out: Massu, Monfils, Gicquel, Santoro and Srichaphan.

Benneteau (vs Gonzalez) and Clement (vs Blake) play tomorrow, but can't overtake unless they go on to make the quarter finals.

Mathieu, Brachiali, Johansson and Andreev also play tomorrow and need to do much better than that.  Ginepri  won't play his R16 match until Thursday, and needs to make the final.

So target Benneteau & Clement!
