Simon Childs 18 won his first ATP Futures title when he won the Mexico F19 Doubles today. The score 7-6 6-4. His partner was an Icelandic dude. Obviously a great combination as they were semi finalists in the previous Future in Mexico.
Its been a great tour for Simon who one his first singles point in his first tourny in Mexico. Could this be the start of something big for Simon? What do you think?
It looks like Simon is a very promising doubles player, will the points he's gained so far move him into the top 1000 doubles ?
Great start to his career on the senior circuit, getting his first singles and doubles points so quickly. Hopefully he can build on this in 2007, maybe getting to around 700 by the end of the year would be a good aim for him.
Has anyone seen him play before ? I've read that he's got quite a big serve
Most impressive of all is that he went on the tour of South America completely alone. I think now he's made the breakthrough onto the tour we should see a lot more of him in more local Futures events and we will hopefully see him as a major player in these tournaments over the next couple of years.
