unfortunately it means he missed qualifying for singles at F20.

Doesn't seem to have made doubles draw either

Maybe Simon's decided to head home from Mexico ? Strange that he's not in the doubles but maybe he's just decided to take a week's rest.

Can leanmachine enlighten us ?

I believe Simon has left Mexico to play at Redbridge and then prepare for three tournis in Tunisia in November.

Thanks for that information leanmachine

Hopefully he can qualify for Redbridge but it'll be tough as the field there is very strong. His game is suited to fast courts though.

Good chance for Simon to get more ranking points in Africa, the fields there will be pretty weak, he might even get direct entry to some of them. Robert Dee did so with just 1 ranking point.

Nice to see that the LTA have an article up about Simon's success:

Excerpt:

"Childs only turned professional in September and is based at the FIT Academy in Halton Village, Buckinghamshire.

FIT Academy director Shane Fone said: "I am very impressed with Simon’s performance in Mexico.

"This was his first trip away since going full-time in September and he went by himself.

"I strongly believe that a player’s true character comes out when there’s no one there to watch them.

"Simon has shown real character, guts and determination to win his first doubles title and also gain an ATP singles ranking."
