Rebecca got a good draw against Thai Nudnida Luangnam who's ranked quite a bit lower than her at 386. However, unfortunately Rebecca's win-drought continues and she lost 7-5, 6-0
Mel was drawn against China's Yan-Chong Chen who's ranked 197 and recently reached the quarters of a WTA event. It was a really tight match, Chen took the first set 6-4 but Mel hit back to take the 2nd 6-4. Mel faced 2 match points when serving to stay in the match at 4-5 in the 3rd but saved both and it went to a tiebreak. She led 5-2 in the breaker but at 5-3 a disputed line call changed things totally. Chen appeared to serve a double fault which would have given Mel 3 match points but the umpire overuled the call and judged it as an ace. Chen went on to take the next 3 points and win the tiebreak 7-5
Both players now move on to Australia for a 25K next week
