"Arthurs and Auckland Advance In St. Petersburg
Wayne Arthurs and James Auckland picked up their first win of the season with a 7-6(5), 6-3 won over Americans Paul Goldstein and Jim Thomas in first round action at the St. Petersburg Open in St. Petersburg on Monday. Arthurs and Auckland are teaming for the first time this year.
Arthurs has a 9-13 season record and is looking for his first doubles title of the year, after taking home two titles last year with countryman, Paul Hanley. Arthurs has advanced to the quarterfinals three times in 2006 and has made one final appearance at the Surbition Challenger event earlier this year.
Auckland has an 8-8 season record and is also looking for his first doubles title of the year. He has advanced to the quarterfinals three times this year, with his best outing being an appearance in the Mumbai semifinals (w/ Delgado).
They will take on fourth seeds Mikhail Youzhny and Nenad Zimonjic who advanced with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Tomas Cibulec and Lovro Zovko.Mikhail and Youzhny are pairing for the first time this year.
Zimonjic has a 40-17 season record and is looking for his second event title after winning the title in 2003 (w/ Knowle). Zimonjic, who recently took home the Moscow title with Fabrice Santoro, is looking for his fourth title of the year."
