See if I can do better predicting 2007 than my disappointing efforts for 2006:
Boggo 95
Richard Bloomfield 200, Josh Goodall 205, Jamie Baker 225, Martin Lee 225, Alan Mackin 245, Jonny Marray 265 - the challenger circuit is tough going for our players and I don't expect that to change in 2007; slow progress rather than anything dramatic.
Greg and Arvind to retire during 2007, Aucks focuses on doubles as does Jamie Delgado.
Tim difficult to assess as his back could go at anytime but the standard of his tennis is 20-30 and his draws have been tough this year.
Andy top 10 and at least 1 slam semi and perhaps a Masters final. Would like him to reduce his schedule by 5 events to give him more rest and time to get that serve sorted out.
heres my predictions (i think we should one for the womens).
Greg will do a lavish party to celebrate his retirement in conjunction with his daughters 1st birthday in january!
Boggo - will be in the top 100 but may struggle to maintain his ranking, even though hes going to be one of the top seeds in the 'exclusive' challengers. i expect him to make an impact in an ATP tournments probably 2 semi finals.
Bloomfield - stay around the top 200. many young players will step in challengers and he will struggle to compete in top challengers.
Goodall - to be in top 150. i think he will exceed expectations.
Mackin - be a repeat of 2005.
Marray - stays in the top 300.
Baker - im not sure. is he going to the states for the off season? if he does then he may be determined to get in to the 200, providing he gets in the latter stages of the challengers.
Juniors- they are promising prospects. though i think all the boys will do well in the futures and will win some titles. expect them to do well in GS. challengers will be too early for them to compete even if they get wildcards. you never know, one of them may do a 'murray'!
Andy to be top 10 and make the masters cup (and break the top 75 in doubles). Maybe a N. America hardcourt masters Henman to make the top 20 following wimbledon and end the season in the top 30 and win queens. Boggo to get into the top 60 of the world Jamie Baker to make it into the top 150 Alan mackin to make huge strides and enter the top 175 Goodall to make the top 200 Bloomfield to break the top 200 Auckland to reach top 250 in the singles and top 60 in doubles Jamie Murray to break the top 40 in doubles.
Andy 8 Boggo 80 Tim "back-attacks" Henman 90 Josh 199 Jamie B 200 Bloomers 275 King Mac 300 Jonny M 325 Martin Lee 350 Aucks, Lee Childs, Morgan Phillips, Greg Rusedski (ret.) 400 Slabba, Chris Eaton 500 James Ward 600 Miles Kasiri, Tom Rushby, Ross Hutchins, Tom Burn 700 Flan The Man, Andy Kennaugh, Rob Searle, Matt Smith, Jamie D (ret.) 800 Dan Cox, David Brewer, Neil Bamford 900 Ed Allinson, Richard Irwin, Sean Thornley 1000
I reckon Andy will break the top 10, make a final in one of the masters series and reach at least one slam quarter-final.
Alex to be ranked around 60
I reckon Henman will get back into the top 20 with some good performances indoors on his return from Australia and that he'll maintain that until the autumn indoor season when he slips down to about 30.
Greg to retire at Wimbledon.
Mackin to break the top 100. This is his aim for 2007 and I reckon he'll do it, he's got the weapons now to become a top 100 player and this autumn he's been beating players inside the top 200 on a regular basis. Going to the States will definately help his game, like Boggo he hasn't been able to produce the same kind of results outdoors at challenger level, in the past. Mike reckons that his best surface will become outdoor hard courts.
Bloomers to be ranked around 150. He hasn't got too much to defend apart from Wimbledon until September. If he can get another win at SW19 he might go higher.
Martin and Josh to also be ranked around 150 and Jamie Baker to be ranked around 200. Jamie is spending at least part of the off-season in the States, I think he'll start to get more results on the challenger circuit next year. I'd like to see him play a few more indoor tournaments.
I don't think Arvind will retire just yet unless injuries force him to. I reckon he'll make a comeback but stay between 250 and 300.
Jonny to be ranked about 250. He hasn't got much to defend and his indoor successes will see him break the top 300 again but I can't see him doing particularly well outdoors and getting further into the top 250.
Aucks to be ranked around 300 in singles and in the doubles top 50.
Jamie Murray to also make the doubles top 50
Jamie Delgado to be ranked around 500 in singles but in the doubles top 75, achieving his career ambition.
Matt Smith to make something of a comeback and get inside the top 350. Lee Childs to be outside the top 400. Colin Fleming to make a comeback and get back inside the top 400 and the doubles top 250.
Slabba to break the top 100 Seriously, I reckon he'll get to around 500.
Morgan Phillips to break the top 450.
Miles Kasiri to break the top 500. Rushby to be ranked somewhere between 500 and 550. Rob Searle to get to somewhere between 550-600.
Andy Kennaugh and Bamford to remain at about 650. Chris Eaton and Ian Flanagan to get to about 650 aswell. Ross Hutchins and Tom Burn to be ranked in the 700s.
Dan Cox, James Ward and David Brewer to get into the 700s.
Evans, Pauffley and Dyce to get their first world ranking points but Sean Thornley to lose his. Evans, Childs and Dyce to get to around 1000-1100.
Why do people generally seem to think that Bloomers and Martin Lee won't do particularly well in 2007 ?
Jezza, out of interest what makes you reckon that Hutchins will make such big strides in 2007 ?
I hope I'm wrong, but I don't think Andy Kennaugh has the power at the moment to continue his charge up the rankings. Unless, he develops a big weapon in his game, I can see him going much higher than 650 next year. Chris Eaton could do very well, he's had some promising results down under. I've never seen him play so that's why my prediction for his 2007 progress is quite conservative. Brewer's had some great wins this autumn but he's not done particularly well when he's played outside of Britain and on slower surfaces. Rushby could break the top 500 next year.
Greenleaf wrote: Daniel Cox has immense potential and is one of the best in the world in his age group. His only problem is his height. The first name that comes to my mind is that of Brian Dabul. Dabul was one of the best players in the world as a Junior and was a great talent, but he is only 5 feet 2 or 3!! So he is ranked around 250 in the world now when he could have been ranked in the top 10 if he was a tall person. I hope that Dan will grow a few inches next year.

Sure that's what his girlfriend says as well!!!!
Think that Andy will make top 10
Tim will stay steady - his season and career will all depend on how he starts the year. Could bow out after Wimbledon if gets off to bad start.
Greg and Arv to retire.
Boggo to go top 80, Goodhall to go top 150 followed by Bloomers and Auckland. I'd like to see Lee stay with them and find his form again.
My big tip for the year is Jonny Marray. Think if he can get on his form is could rocket up and might nearly break the top 100.

Lol, tho he's barely legal!!
Think Andy will be top 10 - there's quite a few players in there who aren't so great at the mo!
Think Tim will peak in top 20 but fall to 40 or so by end of year
Greg to retire, after bowing out in 2nd round of wimbledon, 5-setter to a top 8 seed
Bloomers top 150 i say tho i think his coaching may hold him back at times - i read somewhere that most of his hitting is with some of our top girls (can't remeber who), so might need at address that at some point!
goodall - i reckon a year of treading water- finishing around 220
baker - hard to say, he's been having a tough time of late - 250
marray - either into top 200 or out of top 300. he's a bit of a momentum player so hope he can get on a good run at some point!
mackin - 175 if he can keep his form up.
martin lee - got the talent but think his zest for the game may dry up a bit and fear he will slip back to about 300
forgot about alex! am sure he'll get into the top 100 at some point, i reckon will finish the year 90, and will have won a first match at a grand slam
