Blade says that Jonny gave Carlsen (who has lots of ATP experience) a really good fight. In the 2nd set t/b, he was broken to go 4-2 down, then 5-3, then broke back and got to 5-5 before Carlsen found a winning pass and then served it out.

Grrrr, Jamie had plenty of chances in that match, was a break up in both sets. However, I suppose he did well, considering the amazing form Tourte has been in this year.
Thanks for the info on the Marray match, sounds like a really good performance from Jonny, was just a little unlucky with the draw. I think he goes to Aachen now, to play qualies at the weekend
It's promising that Vagnozzi took Mertl to 3 sets as Vagnozzi is basically an out an out clay-courter. If he can push Mertl close than Richard should have a very good chance.
I've read that Vacek has an absolutely massive serve so Ross is doing really well. Unfortunately, Ross' chances in a tiebreak don't look good but you never know. Boggo played Vacek in Belgrade in 2005 and they had a mammoth match which Alex won 7-5 in the 3rd I believe.

Ross went 1-5 down in the 2nd set t/b, got it back to 4-5, then saved 2 MPs at 4-6 before going set point up at 7-6, saved by Vacek with an ace. Vacek then went 8-7 up to get another MP, Ross served what looked like an ace but was eventually called a fault and then Vacek hit a winning return off his 2nd serve. :(

Great fight from Ross though He must be back in form now, hopefully some good wins over the next month can see him back into the singles top 600 and maybe get him close to the doubles top 150
Sounds like Vacek will give Mackin a really tough match.
