I hear that even though he got in direct, Mackin was given a wildcard. Delgado I assume has the other one. Are they allowed to transfer Mackin's wildcard to another player as he got in directly, maybe Hutchins, Searle or Smith ?
Tough draws for Slabba, hopefully he can end his losing streak and get a few wins. In the Southampton challenger last year he came incredibly close to qualifying. He reached the final qualies round where he faced Martin Lee. The match went to a final set tiebreak, Alex was 5-3 up but Martin hit two forehand winners and 2 aces which was just too good.
Alex has played Bamford once before, in qualifying for GB F1 at the start of 2005. He won 6-3, 6-4. Neil's been up and down this year, had a great spell in May in which he reached the semis of two 10Ks in Greece and beat Colin Fleming on grass. He made another 15K semi in July and in September he reached the quarters of a 15K in Nottingham, beating Jonny Marray 6-1, 6-1. Last week in Glasgow, he beat a clay-courter in rd1 before losing a close match to Bloomers. The courts in Nottingham, are the usual medium paced indoor acrylic which should suit Alex.
It'll be interesting to see the result of the Burn-Rushby rematch. Rushby won 6-3, 6-3 in Glasgow last week.
Harry Skinner is one of our top juniors, 2006 is his final year in the juniors. He's been playing lots of futures qualies in Britain. He's South African born.
I reckon Flan the man has a very good chance of upsetting Marx. The German won their previous match earlier this year in the GB satellite but it was extremely close - 6-7, 7-5, 6-4. Marx made the quarters of Jersey and lost in rd1 of Glasgow.
Jasper Smit is a very tough match for Brewer. He played qualies for Rennes a couple of weeks ago and beat Renavand [who has a massive first serve] in straight sets.
I reckon Irwin will get past the Dutch serve-volleyer Van Haasteren but Aussie serve-volleyer Junaid could prove too tough in rd2 in the bottom quarter.
Wildcards have gone to Hutchins, Marray, Delgado and Tim Hewitt (I've never heard of him does anyone know who he is? )

Tim Hewitt (I've never heard of him does anyone know who he is? )
According to Sally's wonderful site (which was top of Google's list when I searched for Tim), he's the new British National Junior Champion (18 & under)
Tim is the 18&U champion but he hasn't done anything that should make him play in a Challenger.
How did they come to this decision?
Yeah, Tim is definitely a good prospect since he is just 17, but a Challenger wild card to someone unranked who hasn't done anything on the international scene?
The only thing that I can think of is that Dyce went back to the States because he didn't think of such a situation even in his wildest dream.
It's a shame that Cox is playing Juniors this week, he would be a much better option even though he isn't that good on indoors.
All that said, best of luck to young Hewitt in his match.
I'm pro the decision to give Tim a wildcard. He hasn't been given any wildcard opportunities previously compared to several other juniors and is clearly a very talented player. I thought he should have been given wildcards into some of the GB futures in recent weeks. He had a fantastic week in August to win the national U18s, beating Iain Atkinson, David Rice and Oscar Podlewski along the way. Rice had beat Ed Corrie and Dan Cox along the way to the final.
I think Dyce should have got a wildcard into the qualies but maybe he wasn't planning to play here and had already left for the USA.
I'm very surprised Jamie Baker isn't competing here, he's based at Nottingham and with the field being fairly weak, he could have got a couple of confidence boosting wins.
Grrrrr @ the decision to give Hutchins a wildcard over Slabba. Why did they do that. Hutchins' recent form has been terrible. OK, Hutchins won a round last week but he played a clay-courter. Alex has been really unlucky with recent draws - Junaid, Baker and his last two opponents have gone on to reach the semis [with Olejniczak beating the no 1 and no 5 seeds]. Both matches have been really close aswell could have easily been straight sets wins for Alex.
This maybe Tim's reward for winning the U18 championship. It is about time he got some recognition for that win.
The US U18 champion gets a wildcard to the US Open (and the losing finalist a WC into the qualies). I have always thought that we should do that for Wimbledon. Draper wants to encourage winners, this would certainly one way of encouraging our youngsters.
