Waske is ranked 117, career high if 89 which he reached in June this year. He's never played Alan but he has a 2-0 losing record against Boggo, both matches were indoors.
He's played mainly ATPs all year, his best result came a couple of weeks ago in Tokyo when he reached rd3 and came within a pt of the quarters against Suzuki.
At the start of the year he played several challengers, making 2 quarters and a semi before winning Wolfsburg. In the slams, he lost in rd1 of Aussie Open, Wimbledon [16-14 in the 5th] and the US Open [to Baghdatis] but reached rd2 at the French.
Looking ahead to the match, Alan's coach Mike Raphael said that it was a tough one as the courts are extremely fast which would suit Waske a lot more than Alan.
Waske is a big server, he's a serve-volleyer aswell. Alan's going to have to serve really well to stay with the German in this match. Boggo always does well against Waske because he likes playing serve-volleyers I think - he's got very quick hands and he's really good at guiding his passing shots. He creamed several backhand returns down the line against Henman, forced Tim to stay back.
