Tara Wigan makes the main draw but gets tp seed Ana Timotic of SRB ranked 310 in round 1.
She must be furious as the main draw lists 12 ( yes that's right 12) spaces for qualifiers or lucky losers, but she has to play the op seed.
Of those 12 spots the only Brit still in it is Anna Hawkins who is in the final qualy round. Shes seeded 9 and loks to be pretty much guaranteed a place in md whatever happens if there truly are 12 spots up for grabs
Nikki Prosser and Aimee Jarrat reached the semis without hitting a ball. Bye in the quarters and then a walkover! Will they actually get points for this ??????????????????
They lost to top seeds in semis by a walkover because prosser was injured. Surely if she was injured then she should have withdrawn the previous day and not walkedover their previous opponents!
Weird!
Hawkins and Evain beat the 2nd seeds in Round 2 64 60 and are now in semis!
• If a Player or Team receives one or more consecutive bye(s) and loses her/their first match played, first-round losers’ points will be awarded and the Player or Team shall receive Prize Money for the round reached. • If a Player or Team receives one or more consecutive byes and defaults her/their next round, no ranking points shall be awarded, the Tournament will not count on her/their record and no Prize Money shall be paid out. • If a Player or Team receives a default in the first round and there is no Alternate or Lucky Loser to take the spot, or if a Player or Team receives a default in a subsequent round without having yet played a match, the default will be treated as a bye for ranking data purposes. • A Player or Team that receives a default in any round except the First round, after having played and won a match, shall be awarded Round points, but not Quality points, for a default over an opponent. For any disciplinary default occurring in a Tournament after the match begins, the advancing player or team will be awarded Round points and Quality points over her opponent or team.
as they have defaulted (as on Tennis Europe, and this appear to be the real case, ITF is wrong) without playing a game, they recieve no points or money, as they have not played a round....
In this tournament, both winners and losing finalist actually played a total of 2 matches each.
