Good stuff, a Brit and an Irishman in the men's final. So, as a general member of the public, could anyone confirm that I'd be able to just turn up tomorrow morning and watch the tennis, as there's not really much spectator room in there, although, there propably won't be massive crowds turning up for the tennis...
Yeah, you'll be able to just turn up and watch the match. Will you watch Anne Keothavong in the women's 25k semis aswell ?
Looking ahead to the final: Richard has to be the big favourite. Niland is ranked 522 with a career high of 382 reached in August. Niland also reached the final of GB F12 in Wrexham this year, beating Eaton, Irwin, Rushby and Childs along the way. He beat Ghedin in the final.
They've played once before, Niland won 6-3, 6-3 in an U18 tournament in Ireland in 1999. I doubt that'll have much relevance psychologically on the match
Oh dear, I forgot to set my alarm clock last night, and I slept in this morning, but I'm just about ready now, and will hopefully be down there at 12:15, albeit, unshaven and generally looking quite scruffy.
When did the final start ? Any chance that Stew might have seen the 2nd set ?
Fantastic result for Richard, it's been a superb couple of weeks for him, hopefully he can continue this rich vein of form in Nottingham. He'll drop down to 226 again on Monday but next Monday he'll move up to 210 when the Glasgow points are added on and maybe higher if he does well in Nottingham.
It could be a very productive end to the year for Richard as after Nottingham he's heading to Canada to play some challengers which have pretty weak entry lists, Richard should be seeded for them all.
Hey, I'm just back, I got to the tennis courts, and saw 3 points of the Bloomfield/Niland match, and then, next thing I know, they're up at the net shaking hands . I didn't even know what the score was until just a minute ago when I saw it posted on here! After the match I went up to Richard and got a picture of him, so I'll post that soon. Oh, and even though this isn't the right thread to post this, I saw virtually all of the Flipkins match, and I saw the end of the second (and final) set in which the British girl got thumped 6-0.
The rest of the pictures are from the Flipkins/Gubacsi match, I didn't want to take a picture of the British girl as she wasn't looking too happy after the match (no surprise with that), and whilst I could have taken a picture of the German girl (I was within a few metres of her), I really didn't want to.
