Main Draw.

Morgan Philips has drawn an as yet unknown qualifier.

Looking ahead he could meet 7th seeded Croatian Skenderovic in round 2 and 2nd seeded Frenchman Xavier Pujo in the quarters. However Thiemo De Bakker is an unseeded dangerous floater in Morgans quarter so the seedings may mean nothing.

He hasn't even won a match here yet and look at me speculating!

Doubles main draw.

Morgan has teamed up with Murad Inoyaov of Uzbekistan to become second seeds for the doubles tournament.

We'll see where that goes!

Good chance for Morgan to reach the quarters which would take him back into the top 600 [in fact he only needs to win a round to do that]. He beat Skenderovic in the semis of Portugal F4 last week, pretty convincingly aswell, 6-4, 6-3.

Looks likely that he'd face De Bakker in the quarters, a rematch of the final.

2nd seed in Morgans quarter Xavier Pujo is out to be replaced by a LL.

Probably irrelevant as Thiemo De Bakker still lurks...

Rd1: M Phillips [GB] bt J Zopp [Est][q] 6-3, 6-4

Unfortunately De Bakker still lurks in that quarter, he won 1 and 2 in rd1.

Rd2: M Phillips [GB] v V Skenderovic [Cro][7]

The Croat also beat an unranked qualifier 3 and 4 in rd1. He's ranked 602 which is about the same as the ranking Morgan is expected to have when his points from Portugal F4 are added on next Monday. They played in the semis last week, Morgan won 6-4, 6-3

No matches were played yesterday due to rain in the Azores (what a place to play tennis!)

2nd round and QF's today so if Morgan beats Skenderovic again he's like to face De Bakker later today!

Lets hope Morgan is the fitter of the two!
