alex opponet doesnt appear to have olayed on any durface other than clay this year, so alex should be able to get past him, he has the beating of vico, i think zib isnt as good as he used to be. another match vs sluiter would be interesting.

Great to see that all 3 Brits won yesterday in convincing fashion.
Looking ahead to today's matches:
Mackin and Childs have played once before. Childs won 1-6, 6-3, 6-3 in rd1 of the 2005 Manchester challenger. However, Mackin's had some superb wins indoors this year and is in really great form, I reckon he'll get through in straight sets.
Jonny has the toughest match, up against Swiss serve-volleyer George Bastl, ranked 151. Bastl's had an average year, the highlights have been qualifying for TMS Miami and beating Bracciali in rd1 before losing to Andreev. He also qualified for ATP Los Angeles beating Mahut before taking a set off Agassi in rd2. He qualified for the US Open and ATP Bangkok, losing to Ferrero in 4 sets in New York and getting thrashed by Udomchoke in Bangkok. He's struggled in challengers this year. Marray is the more in-form player going into this match, I reckon he'll win.
I wonder why Martin Lee didn't stay in Kolding, he probably would have just made the cut. I wonder if he, Auckland and Delgado have headed to Glasgow and asked for some wcs to try and get some more wins under their belts.
Alex's draw is really good given the strength of the entry list when it was initially released. There have been tons of withdrawals.
He should beat Lopez who peaked at 104 in 2004 but is now ranked at 213. Moreover, the Spaniard hasn't played a match indoors since November 2005, he's played entirely on clay this year winning 2 challengers, 1 semi and 4 quarters. He's coming to Kolding off the clay of Barcelona where he made the quarters last week.
Vico and Zib are definately beatable with Alex's current form. As Bladetiger's said, Vico is a bit of a mercurial player but he's struggled so far indoors getting thrashed by Mertl, Llodra and Rochus. I think Alex would prefer to face him than Zib who's at his best indoors, beating Henman in Vienna a couple of years ago.
