Of all tyrannies a tyranny exercised for the good of its victim may be the most oppressive.... those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience

As m-j-d says, from the stats it seems as though Richard had real problems with his serve today, just 3 aces over 3 sets and 13 dfs. His first serve was only 45%, he won 29/43 pts on 1st serve and 25/53 on 2nd serve.
Tsonga hit 8 aces and 2 double faults, served at 57%, won 37/49 pts on 1st serve and 21/37 on 2nd serve.
Given Richard's problems with his serve [which was under 40% in the 1st and 3rd sets], he did extremely well to make the match as close as it was. I thought that Tsonga would win in straights beforehand. This will take Richard up close to the top 200 but then he'll drop straight back down to where he is now the following Monday when his Southampton challenger pts come off.
However, it's been a fantastic week for Richard, beating 3 quality players. The win over Patience in particular was one of the highlights of the month so far, should give him a lot of confidence.
Richard could do with reaching the final in the 15K in Glasgow this coming week as he still has a lot of pts to defend this month.
