And he takes the first, so GSM Gicquel 6-4, 7-6[3]

Still, an excellent performance from Jonny, to push a top 100 player that close. On this form, Gicquel's playing at least 20 places above his ranking. It's been a superb 4 days for him in Stockholm, should give him a lot of confidence, hopefully he'll keep going for the ATPs.

Yeah, unlucky Jonny. Plenty of players at that level wouldn't have served as well as Gicquel obviously did today and you would have picked up some chances.

Any idea where Jonny goes next?

Looking at the stats, the key in the match turned out to be the 2nd serves. Particularly in the 2nd set, Jonny really struggled to win any pts on Gicquel's weaker delivery and overall Gicquel won 65% of the pts on it. He was able to capitalise on Jonny's 2nd serve at the crucial moments; Jonny won 46% of his 2nd serve pts.

So, next up for Jonny is likely to be Kolding challenger qualies this weekend

Jonny will next be in action in the Kolding challenger qualifying which begins on Saturday. The Madrid Masters is next week and there are no other European challengers so there'll be quite a few Brits in Kolding.

I think that Martin Lee, Alan Mackin, James Auckland, Jonny Marray [and maybe Lee Childs and Jamie Delgado] will be in action in the qualies.

Bloomfield and Goodall are competing in the Glasgow 15K.

Jonny will have gained 10 pts from Stockholm which will take him up to 321 from 343. He, Mackin and Auckland are all closing in on the Aussie Open qualies cut.
