Main draw R1

Andy Kennaugh GBR (762) vs Stephen Donald (AUS) (WC) (1333)

Great draw for Andy. A match he should really win. Likely second round opponent is 5th seed Coelho whom Andy took a set off at Aus F9 in the last 16, so there's opportunities for AK here.

Chris Eaton (GBR) (810) vs Shannon Nettle(4) (Aus) (459)

Tough draw for Chris. He played Nettle a month ago in Aus F6 and lost in three tight sets so again theres a chink of light for Chris to aim at. Nettle has made 3 SF and 1QF appearance in his last five futures though so is in pretty good form.

Myles Blake (GBR) (825) vs Miles Armstrong (Aus) (WC) (1151)

On paper it looks good until you remember that Armstrong was in the final two tournaments ago and that he thrashed Myles 64 61 in the first round last week.

Main hope this week is Andy Kennaugh!

Main Draw doubles

Eaton/Kennaugh (1346) vs Donald/Matosevic (AUS) (2419)

Blake/Ley (2355) vs Lewis/To (Bah/Aus) (unranked)

Missed the seeded pairs in R1 again.

It would be really disappointing to see the teams with British interest lose in R1 this week. The best draws they could have had really.

I think it is time young Kennaugh came home for some R&R and practice !

Stephen Donald is one of Australia's brightest junior prospects, he's ranked 92 in juniors and is 17.

Still a match that Kennaugh should have won though, he's really struggling for form at the moment

Better news in the doubles:

Eaton and Kennaugh bt Donald and Matosevic 6-4, 6-3 [revenge for Andy and for Chris who lost to Matosevic last week].

However, Lewis and To beat Blake and Ley 6-4, 6-3

Chris Eaton & Myles Blake faired no better than Andy Kennaugh sadly.

1st Round
Shannon NETTLE (AUS) (4) defeated Chris EATON (GBR) 63 62
Miles ARMSTRONG (AUS) defeated Myles BLAKE (GBR) 63 64

And Andy & Chris are out of the doubles.
Quarter-finals
CERRETANI (USA) / STOLT (USA) 3 defeated EATON (GBR) / KENNAUGH (GBR) 7-6(5) 7-6(4)

At least the doubles match was close.

I think Drew is right. These boys need to come home for a rest or training block or something. They'd be doing better in British futures tournaments.

(Myles Blake is based in Oz I think, so maybe not him)
