interetsing news here on gilbert, great for alex if it works out.
ALEX BOGDANOVIC hopes Andy Murray’s coach Brad Gilbert can help him break into the world’s top 100.
The Davis Cup star jumped 27 places in the rankings to 119 by reaching the Ethias Trophy final in Belgium.
Bogdanovic, 21, who lost to Serbian Janko Tipsarevic, hopes to benefit from the LTA’s £700,00 deal with Gilbert — who is required to work with other British players as well as Murray.
He said: “Brad has had a massive effect on Andy and hopefully I’ll have some time on court with him next month.”

its nice to see the sun getting the facts right isnt it. i think davis cup star is a good one, should show that to lloydy
I love Boggo and all, but 'Davis Cup star' were they taking the p... ?
Anyway he is down for Aachen, so looks like he's planning Kolding, Nottm, Aachen after this week off, tho' if he goes deep in one of these, I'd expect him to pull out of one as he has often done before.
he will have to be carefull, when you are seeded there are heavy fines for pulling out at the last minute, (in the order fo a few grand i think!) and often you have to travel to the event to 'prove' you are injured if you dotn want to pay the fine

Good News: Both Economides and Novak went out in R1, before they could overtake. Also, Gabashvilli just lost to Davydenko in R2 before he could Moodie, Philippoussis & Llodra also went out
However, Kubot won in Vienna, and Kendrick won in Sacramento. Both advance, as does Delic.
The big threat now is Kubot, who plays in Vienna R2 tomorrow agaist Ferrero or Melzer. Please target all of your pins on Lukasz Kubot!
Alex's remaining threats are: Kubot, who must reach the quarters in Vienna. Next are de Voest and Kendrick who must reach the final in Sacramento, and Fraile(Barca), Portas(Barca), Delic(Sacr) and Bozoljac(Sacr) who must win their tournaments.
Of these 7, a maximum of 4 will overtake (Kubot, 2 in Sacramento and 1 in Barcelona), knocking Boggo down to 118th - still a career best! Best case is that none of them do, and he ends the week up at 114th!
I now have internet again so will be back to helping out next week, hope you didn't miss me too much!
Well we certainly missed your insightful analysis, but it doesn't look like Boggo missed your voodoo powers so far (unless you were busy sticking pins into dolls while waiting for the broadband to be delivered?)
News from Barcelona: Seven out of eight seeds are now out of the tournament after round 2, including Vicente who's directly ahead of Alex, Fraile and Portas who were threats as well as Eschauer who's just off the table and Montanesthe number 1 seed.
- so that's now a maximum of 3 to overtake: Kubot +2 in Sacramento, and that's a worst case 117th

just following it generally - watching his masterful inactivity this week paying off by shooting him up the rankings
Dlouhy advances ahead of Boggo, De Voest advances behind him.
Falla, Gremelmayer, Vicente, Fraile, Portas and Delic go out.
NOTE: There are two more threats I missed: Andreas Vinciguerra overtakes if he reaches the semis in Stockholm. Igor Kunytsin overtakes if he reaches the final in Moscow.
(which means Boggo can still end up not gaining any places)

Wow! That's really dedicated!!
More important than his week by week progress is that he's got a load of points to drop and not that many tournies to defend them in between now and Bergamo.
I think it would be a big achievement if he can just get to end of feb still in top 120-140 range. If so I'd back him to be a DA by wimbledon, which I think will be a realistic target.
Has CZ had any feedback from Alex as to what his targets are for the remainder of this year?
Would be very interested to know, on the whole I think he's had a good year, just hope he's learnt that DC isnt for him and sticks to just playing the tour!! It's set him back 2 years running inow and he cant afford it again.
Anyway, looking forward to seeing Boggo and Mike at Nottingham, quite a tough looking draw but not unwinnable by any means.
