RE: Andy's Competitors week 41

I am behaving like a beginner, not reading all the posts

But surely in situations like this, the atp is the most reliable source? After all, they are the ones awarding the points?

But you are right, last year Andreev got 250 for the win according to his atp record...

Does this kind of thing happen often?

You'd think so wouldn't you but unfortunately the ATP isn't always 100% reliable, although it's getting better all the time.

Not really but this isn't the first time it's happened. Part of the problem is the points sometimes change for tournaments from one year to the next but I'm pretty sure that's not the case here.

Just to add to the confusion, the ATP draw sheet shows 250, while their tournament profile shows 175, so they can't even agree with themselves

I'm willing to bet the correct figure is 250.

Well the table's now updated (based on 250 points for Moscow )

Gasquet, Djokovic and Ferrer go out: so Andy's task in Madrid is made easier, as no- ones managing to open up a gap ahead of him.

Berdych advances (slightly)

Remaining concerns are that Hrbaty doesn't catch up too much and Niemenen doesn't get too far ahead.

The table's updated for Friday's play

Gonzalez and Hrbaty  advance and Soderling  moves onto the bottom of the table.

Berdych goes out.

The table's updated for teh semi - finals:

Hrbaty and Soderling go out, keeping them at a safe -ish distance.

Niemenen  advances - Andy'll need a good run in Madrid to overtake now.

The table's updated. Both Gonzo and Niemenen go out. Madrid, here we come.
