I would say Josh had the toughest rd1 draw, Uebel is ranked 296 while Alan and James' opponents are ranked outside the top 350. Plus if Josh won, he'd have had to play Peya in rd2.
Jonny should hopefully get through to rd3 but then top seed Pless is likely to be lurking
He hit 12 aces, 6 doubles, served at 54% [if it had been a bit higher, maybe in the 60s I think he would have won], he won 82% of his 1st serve pts but just 49% on 2nd serve. Uebel hit 4 aces, 4 doubles, served at just 43%, won 82% of 1st serve pts and 51% of 2nd serve pts.
The stats seem to suggest that Uebel was just better than Josh from the baseline today and that was the deciding factor. Josh was generally in trouble if he missed the 1st serve.
