Wow, great to see Marray qualifying for a main draw of an ATP event. Any chance someone could work out how high he could go in the rankings this week depending on his success?
a first round defeat, giving him 15 points (10 for qualifying, 5 for first round appearance), would take him to 310 or so, 2nd round up to approx 287, and qf's (being optimistic) up to 237!
always thought he had top 200 / top 150, even perhaps top 100 potential when he emerged a couple of years back - think he would have kicked on had he got to 2nd round wimbledon in 2004 i think, after squandering match points in the first round vs karol beck. remember him going on a huge losing run after that which was a big shame - he seems to be a real confidence player.
A/G miss a break point (at deuce...) to go 5-4 up, so are now serving to stay in the set.
these sudden death poingts at deuce are a bit silly really... with the short length of matches caused by this and the "champions" tie break, i reckon they could play an entire doubles tournie in 1 day if they wanted, with only slight tiredness from the finalists!
