I wonder if the electricity blew on Center and that explains:

1) why the first match there has been going on so long

2) why the live scoreboard went down

That's a superb win over a player ranked around 200 places higher

In the final round tomorrow, he's likely to play Denmark's Kristian Pless who's the top seed, ranked 107.

That seems like a good explanation. I can't really think of any other reason given that this tournament is indoors

maybe the match really is taking that long...there have already been 279 points and if they are clay courters their style of play might dictate long points...clutching at straws...?

Wow, that is a lot of points for a 3-set match! Maybe you're right - they've had 24 bps between them and only taken 7, which implies a lot of deuces, and 287 points (the final total now that Devilder has won) is the equivalent of a match going to five 6-4 sets if you assume the average game is won to 30.

Great win for Jonny.

Am I right in thinking that in the men's game, you only get ranking points if you actually qualify, save for Master's and Slams? Always seems very harsh to get beat two challenger level opponents, with potentially no reward if you lose in final qualifying... doesn't exactly encourage folks to try and qualify for ATP vs enter main draw of challengers....

Yes that's right - you only get points in the early rounds of qualifying at slams, AMS events and ISG events like Vienna.
