Alan Mackin, Josh Goodall, Jonny Marray and James Auckland are all entered for the qualies here and they're all in different sections so we could potentially have 4 qualifiers, that is a little optimistic though !
Auckland's entry seems to suggest that he'll be playing doubles in the main draw with Jamie Delgado. Jamie didn't make the cut for the qualies.
Rd1:
J Marray v D Danilovic [Swe][WC]
A Mackin v P Petzschner [Ger]
J Auckland v J Reister [Ger]
J Goodall v L Uebel [Ger]
Match previews:
Jonny has the easiest rd1 draw. 18 year old Daniel Danilovic is ranked only 1444 and he's won just 1 main draw futures match all year. Danilovic lost to Alan Mackin in rd1 of the qualies here last year: 6-1, 6-4. If Jonny wins he's likely to play 5th seeded Aussie Peter Luzcak [wr: 157] in rd2.
Alan's opponent is German Phillip Petzschner who's ranked 389 [peaked at 248 in 2003]. He's in the doubles top 100, currently ranked 62. He had a successful spell earlier this year when he reached 3 futures finals, winning 1 [in the United Arab Emirates] and also reaching a futures semi in Austria. He's mainly concentrated on doubles where he's won several challenger and futures titles aswell as playing regularly on the tour. If Alan wins, he's likely to play 8th seeded Swede Filip Prpic [wr:245] in rd2.
James' opponent is 20 year old German clay-court specialist Julian Reister, ranked 390. This year in futures, Reister has reached 2 finals, 3 semis and 4 quarters. A couple of weeks ago he qualified for and then reached the quarters of the Szczecin challenger on Polish clay. If James wins, he'll be likely to face 7th seeded Swede Jacob Adaktusson [wr:244] in rd2.
Josh has the toughest rd1 draw, up against German clay-court specialist Lars Uebel who's ranked 296 [peaked at 242 earlier this year]. The highlights of Uebel's year have been reaching 2 challenger semis on outdoor hard and a challenger quarter-final on clay in Romania. Against Brits, he's beaten Alan Mackin but lost to Andy Kennaugh. If Josh wins, he's likely to face 4th seed Alex Peya [wr:141] in rd2.
