Cox is in Japan as I said before.

Evans I don't know about and I'm shocked that he isn't here.

Oh yes, I forgot about the Osaka Mayor Cup. Maybe Hilton thought it would be more beneficial for Evans to put some more training in at Nottingham, I expect he'll get a wc into the challenger qualifying there in a couple of weeks time.

I'm surprised that Dyce isn't playing here aswell, or is he in Japan too ?

Most of those were pretty much expected apart from the Flanagan and May results. Good to see Jim returning to form, that was a great win against a player ranked around 200 places higher

Flanagan proves as mercurial as ever, Rushby's been in great form lately but on his day, Ian has the ability to beat most players in the GB futures fields. Does anyone think he will find the consistency to break top 500 one day ?

I've just found out that unfortunately the Beeb got the May-Granbow score the wrong way round. Granbow actually won 4-6, 7-6, 6-4

Matt Illingworth is still on court and Alex Slabinsky, Richard Irwin and Ed Allinson are yet to start

Matt Illingworth was drawn against Australian Clinton Thompson in rd1 but Thompson withdrew and was replaced by British lucky loser Konstantinos Kalaitzis in rd1. Kalaitzis took full advantage of his good fortune and secured his 2nd ranking point with a 6-4, 6-7[5], 6-3 win.

Flan the man rides again.  Funny, after that run at Queens I always thought he'd break through.  I know he is a friend of Roddick.....I wonder if he will ever crack the top 300....he clearly has the talent.

Has Ian ever player outside of the British Isles? If not, does Jersey count as abroad?

He's played very few broad.

Oddly, back in 2000, Flan The Man's 2nd, 3rd, 4th & 5th professional tournaments were satellites in Bulgaria, though he didn't qualify for any.

In 2002, he played 1 lost 1 in India.

In 2003, he went to Romania, and lost in 1st round qualifying.

In April 2004, he travelled to Qatar to play in two futures. He qualified for the second, but lost to Jamie Delgado in 1st rnd main draw.

Since then he's never played abroad, chosing to only play in GB, including in June 2004, his famous run at Queens.

Shock horror in doubles.

Bamford and May lost their first match in what seems like ages. They've made so many finals recently.

They lost to Tom Burn and Ross Hutchins 64 64 in doubles first round. Nice to see Ross win a match again though.

Only other British doubles winners were Dave Brewer and Matt Lowe beating Luke Campbell and Daniel King Turner (NZL) 36 63 64.
