Dancevic reached rd2 with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Marcos Daniel. He's ranked 92, last week in Bangkok he came very close to beating Jarkko Nieminen in rd2.
The highlights of his year have been winning challengers in Waikoloa and Granby, reaching challenger finals in Mexico City and Besancon and making semis in Cherbourg and San Luis. He qualified for Queens and Wimbledon, taking a set off Roddick at Queens.
I've read that his main weapon is a big first serve, don't know anything else about his game.
Henman should win but it'll be tricky, I reckon he'll do it in 3.
It's on tomorrow, 2nd on centre court so an early start for those of us committed enough to follow it on live score - a 3.30am start approx.

If it starts at 3:30am your time it will come on around 8:30pm our time here in Montana. I am due to get home from work around 9pm so I'll try to get home ASAP and do some scoreboard watching for you all.
I think Tim will win. He has been playing well. Seems like last week he was taken down by a great effort from PS. Tim in two for me.
I agree I think Tim will win, Srichaphan played some incredible tennis to beat him last week, he himself admitted it was the best he played in his entire life ! He was so drained by the effort he had nothing to give against Ljubicic the next day.
My god Doug, you don't get home from work until 9pm ! Are you going in later tomorrow or is it just crazy hours ?
I'll try and be there, will be good to have someone to chat to in between points. I expect Vonce will also be up, turning night into day as usual
Is there Tokyo coverage on Sky or the Tennis Channel ?

Heh, I do my best
Anyways as some might know I'm a fan of Dancevic as he's good young up and coming player. Plus as I said he did break the top 100. But Tim should win this as he played some good tennis last week and was unlucky to beat the Thai whose name I can be bothered spelling

Lol, the Vonce is a rarity among the human species given that it is predominantly nocturnal. You will most likely find it between the hours of 7pm-5am lurking in then cyber realms, it prefers to hibernate for much of the day. It's main characteristics are it's hatred for spelling the name Srichaphan and it's addiction to Smash court Tennis
Have you seen Dancevic play much before ? What's his game like ? What would you say his strengths and weaknesses are ?
Bad news for Tim: The tournament is being played outdoors and according to Jamie the conditions are very heavy as it's been raining a lot. Won't suit his game that well but will be perfect for Andy.

Certainly is me being described there
Not really sorry. As he's not really played at much Master Series events or got into the decent rounds of Grand slams for me able to as they are only ones that are on TV over here. As you probably know not many ordinary ATP tour events are live on TV over here.
I do follow his results when I can. I did see a bit of him against Roddick at Queen's but I can't really remember anything from the match. As far as remember his 1st round matches of Wimby and the US Open weren't on TV either, plus I missed his 2nd round match at the Rogers Masters.
I do know he's a big server and should get a face aces against Henman and seems from his stats to be very consistent on his 1st serve from the stats below you'll see. So he might be a bit of a challenge for Henman to break Dancevic.
Here's his stats ofc these are for ATP tour level events. He's 4-7 in ATP events.
Service Record Year-to-Date Aces: 54 Double Faults: 13 1st Serve %: 64 1st Serve Points Won %: 72 2nd Serve Points Won %: 53 Break Points Faced: 53 Break Points Saved %: 64 Service Games Played: 99 Service Games Won %: 81 Service Points Won %: 65
Return Record Year-to-Date 1st Serve Return Points Won %: 25 2nd Serve Return Points Won %: 48 Break Points Opportunities: 50 Break Points Converted %: 32 Return Games Played: 98 Return Games Won %: 16 Return Points Won %: 34 Total Points Won %: 49

I really don't know why I'm awake, but since I am, I'll post the news of Tim winning easily in straight sets, 6-2 6-1, in only 48 minutes. The statistics reflect the scoreline, however, I'm not surprised as I expected Tim to win with ease.
On court 1 (the court Andy and Jamie are playing on later today), the first match is just about coming to an end (with the score currenty 6-5 in the 3rd set,) after 2:19 .
Ahhhh I was hoping to break this news but got home from work far too late.....
And no UBF, I still have to be in at 8am in the morning and being on salary I don't get over time for this.....word of advice.....enjoy Uni....study hard....get good grades and find a job you love with no boss okay....the beauty of Uni is that when you are my age you won't have to have a job where you have to stay out late for nowt when you really want to be checking out a Tennis scoreboard....lol
Superb win for Tim, it only took 48 minutes ! I suspect that the fact that the courts were so heavy helped Tim in this one as it would have nullified the Dancevic serve.
I meant to be up to follow this one but was playing tennis until midnight and was soooo tired.
Here's how the match went: Tim got off to the best possible start, breaking in game 2. It then went with serve until 5-2 when Tim broke to 15 to take the set !
Tim then broke againt to lead 3-1 and then for 5-1
Speaking afterwards:
"The court is a little bit quicker than what I usually play on, but it suits my game really well," said Henman.
"I'll try to play the same way as I did today and see what happens. You've just got to keep plugging away."
Well quite the win for Tim against the rising star of tennis
Uhm as far as Del Potro goes I think Tim shouldn't have too many problems as from his results his most prominent results come on clay. But seem to have some good hardcourt wins to his name in the past few weeks or so. Moya last week in Mumbai but couldn't keep it up in rnd 2 against Delgado who lesser ranked than Moya by a bit by losing the 1st set then retiring after a few in the 2nd. Now Ginepri here in Tokyo and Verdasco a few months back when he won a hardcourt challenger in Spain. So except for that hardcourt challenger win he's done not much. To be fair on clay he hasn't done much aswell except for a challenger win too. But he's starting to get through to decent rounds at ATP tour level events and seems to do well on the challenger circuit, plus he's also qualified for Roland Garros and the US Open going out in 4 in both in rd 1. So I'd probably expect to Tim maybe to do this in straights or Del Potro could sneak a close set to make it go to 3.

Speaking to the LTA, Tim said “It was important for me to try and set the tone of the match early on and fortunately that worked out well.
“After playing indoors last week the conditions this week are a little different so I was pleased with the way I was timing the ball and also with the way I played to my strengths throughout the match."
