i live in london tho, so am not too bothered :)

realistcialy the only place in london for indoor DC would be the royal albert hall, and there would be booking problems for their.

Same here, or even Edinburgh just for a bit of a change

I feel we should really beat the Dutch, as they have no top tennis players that would trouble Andy as he should really win his 2 singles matches against Sluiter and maybe it will be Haase he would face in the 2nd one.

I think that it's likely to be at the National Indoor Arena in Birmingham, maybe in Scotland but I wouldn't have though that the LTA would choose to hold two home ties in a row there.

It's a superb draw for us, Murray should be able to easily win both his singles matches and on indoor hard I'd give Boggo a good chance of beating Sluiter on the opening day.

I think that Holland would probably play 2005 Wimbledon junior runner-up Robin Haase as their no 2, he may even be their no 2 by next April, he's a fast-improving player. If we pick on of our established doubles teams: ie: Auckland and Delgado or the Murray brothers we should be favourites to win the doubles. I hope Lloyd sees sense and does that. Martin Lee and Jonny Marray might be top 100 aswell by April so he could have quite a choice !

2 in a row in Scotland? But the last home Davis Cup tie was at Eastbourne

I've been reading the Davis Cup report in the May issue of ACE, the bad news for Scotland is that the LTA weren't particularly impressed with the crowd atmosphere and the facilities in Glasgow, they said they're going to continue moving the venues around the country.

Maybe they could hold it in Nottingham, they have so many of the challengers and futures there and an ATP. What are the spectator facilities like at the Nottingham tennis centre ?

I'd love it to be in Nottingham. Not sure what indoor spectating is like, but if were outdoors it's pretty good. It's very unlikely to be on the grass though in April. If i can get to any day of the challenger in a couple of weeks time i'll have a better idea.

What about Bolton where the Nationals used to be, is that place still up to it?

They could hold it on the outdoor hard courts at Nottingham that would suit Andy the best though not Boggo or the other guys. It'll be interesting to hear what the indoor spectating facilities are like ?

It always strikes me as really bizarre that although Nottingham has so many pro tennis tournaments every year, the publicity of them is really poor, you'd think that the tennis centre would advertise them a bit better. It's the same with the Wrexham challenger, it had a quality field earlier this year and a British player [Boggo] actually won the title, yet nobody in Wrexham, not even the real tennis fans even knew that the tournament was taking place !!

The Bolton tennis centre has really good indoor acrylic courts, they had a challenger there in 2004 before it was moved to Nottingham [2006]/Southampton [2005]. However, the spectator facilities aren't good enough to hold a Davis Cup tie there, when Christine went to the challenger, she said that the sports centre cafe was the only place where you could sit and watch the matches.

I'd like to see it played at Sutton for purely selfish reasons, lol

The have outdoor carpet and clay courts, the only problem is that it would rather favour Holland !

Indoor facilities at Nottingham are pretty poor. I suppose they could put up special seating around one of the courts - but nowhere near big enough for DC, I wouldn't have thought.

There is a balcony which requires contortions to watch parts of the courts

Outdoor would be fine, spectating facilities are good there. But not in February I would expect.

Did you go to the satellite there last November ? Lol, I remember that report on the contortions you had to perform to watch any of the semis.

The tie's in April so I think the weather would be ok to have it outdoors. In 2005, there was a challenger outdoors in Nottingham, Marray reached the final.

Yes, I have very vivid memories of the Nottingham satellite indoors.

I forgot this tie was in April; I would still have thought British weather in April was not very reliable though.

In mid-April when the tie is played, most of the European tournaments start moving outdoors if they have the facilities. I think the Cardiff challenger had to be played indoors this year for that reason.

There weren't any problems for the challenger in 2005, but as you say, up north it can be very changeable at that time of the year.

Have they just got clay courts down at Bournemouth ? If they have got other surfaces, that might be an option as they've got good spectator facilities there having had an ATP event not so long ago.
