Good for you....do you know where you will go for Uni?
Not yet. Most students of my age with be going for interviews this December, but it's usually the case for engineering students to wait until their gap year has started before going for interview as you generally have more to talk about, you can talk about the stuff you've been doing at work and *cough* hopefully avoid some of the tricky maths and physics questions *cough*
No soccer....Football....the school team won their first three games, but have lost a couple of close ones....Montana is so big, that you have to drive forever. I assist in the coaching in soccer, but coach my son's team, who have played three games. They drew the first but won the last two.
Over here in tennis, some of the High School teams drive forever only to have an event rained out and have to come home. The State is so big and the weather poor, not many of the towns have in door courts.
Ok, am I right in thinking that American football is like rugby but with helmets ?
Yeah, my parents used to live in the States and they said that you could drive for hours and hours and not pass any houses, while in Britain you can't drive for 1 minute without passing a house
In this game Boggo had 15-30 but Tim dug deep and got it to 40-30
Montana Doug wrote: 47.1% of the people here thought Boggo would win in 3....I went for Henman in 2.....no one thought Tim would win in 3....I had no idea what you guys could see, but what a moment for Boggo, playing Tim in a big stadium and taking him to a third set....Tim serves first and I still can't see him losing although I agree with you, winning that last game is HUGE!
I think we all caught Boggo-fever after the Wang win !!! I was just going on the principle that he's beaten Tim before in 3 sets on a fast court. Must be amazing for him, doing it in a competition match and it being so close and in the stadium arena which is massive.
Unfortunately Tim saved the bp and now has game point
American football is kinda like rugby but with helmets, forward passes etc....in fact Rugby clearly inspired American Football.
Where did your parents live in the States? Some parts are built up like where I used to live in Cali, but Montana can be very sparse, I do worry at times in the winter, if I hit a deer or ditch the car I could be left outside in minus 30 weather for ages until another car comes along. As you can imagine we stop for everyone here to help them out if there car has a prob. Very little crime here.
I didn't know that Boggo and Tim had ever played....in fact that is why I really liked Henman to win, thought it would be a super big deal for Boggo
1-1....I am gonna be so dead in the morning. You guys over there should be all up soon....everyone is gonna come back here and be here in time for the third set tie breaker....lol

Ok, I see
They lived in St Louis, "tornado alley" as it was known. Montana sounds like a very nice community to live in, but that does sound quite worrying for in winter, I suppose getting stuck in snowdrifts might also be a hazard ?
Boggo got it back to deuce and then took the next two points to hold

They'd played before but only in an exhibition match.
Lol, the Brits on this board like their sleep, hehe. Apart from Vonce and me, that is.
There are several lurking at the moment but they've not posted yet, maybe too tired
Interesting to see how everyone wants boggo to win. I think this is because even with the best will in the world, Tim's best day's are behind him so a victory for Tim will change nothing fot British tennis. If Alex wins, maybe we'll have another top 100 player!
Interestingly, if Alex wins this match, it won't make that much difference to his ranking (I am not taking any points he is protecting into account). Alex has won a fairly trivial 15 points for his first round rin (and a less trivial $9k !) which will take him from a current 148th (295 points) to 138, equal with Greg. The 40 ponts for winning a second round match will only take him to 131st, just below wang who he beat in the first round.
What are Alex's plans for the remainder of the year?
I have never been to St Louis, and never been near a twister.
They do a great job on the roads up here, but yeah putting the car in a ditch and getting it stuck is a major worry up here, esp on little country roads. Come winter we don't drive a ton. Montana is by far the most beautiful of the lower 48 States. Just amazing to visit Glacier, Yellowstone etc. Lovely country up here. If you like to camp or back pack you have to visit.
2-1 Tim.....0-30 too....this is Tim's chance to get that break.

I think Tim could easily finish the year in the top 40 which I'd love to see....but your point is well taken....it would be nice to see Alex and a few others make a major move.
I am hoping Alex like Tim is a late bloomer. For years we have talked about him, if he can beat Tim and later break into the top 100 I think it will be the boost his confidence needs and he could go onto have a great career.
