Not a nice way to celebrate your birthday (he turns 16 in two days time).
Well, Jim May is a heavier hitter and a very experienced opponent, at just 15 Cox's form is going to vary from match to match it's going to be at least another year before he starts to produce his best week in week out. May has a pretty big serve and if it's on song as it probably was today, it's going to put a lot of pressure on Cox who is currently just 5ft 4 and unlikely to get many cheap points on serve. He still has a lot of growing to do, like Andy Murray at his age. The promising thing is that if he's this good without a big serve, he'll be one heck of a player once he grows a bit and develops one.
Surprising news is that Slabba has taken the 1st set against Baker 6-2

Ha! You speak logic.
Andy was playing some dodgy tennis and didn't qualify for even a single time till he was sixteen. Suddenly he was given a wild card for a Challenger and not a Futures, and unranked as he was, he defeated Wesley Moodie and went on to reach the quarters.
And speaking of Daniel Cox, a seeding at Osaka Mayor's is now assured. There were five withdrawals ahead of him and he is now 14th in the list. Josh Milton is 17th. Jade Curtis moves up to 12th.
Jamie Baker (Gbr) bt Alexander Slabinsky (Gbr) 2-6 6-4 6-1
Not a good start but Jamie came good in the end. Jamie tends to struggle to find his best form right after a training break, that's probably the reason he lost the dead rubber but hopefully he is on the roll now.
