They've played twice before, both times in the juniors. Jamie won 6-4, 6-4 on grass in rd1 of the Roehampton junior championships in 2004 and a few weeks later he won 6-1, 7-6[1] in rd3 of junior Wimbledon.
Bubka reached a high of no 4 in the juniors, in seniors he's ranked 461 with a career high of 458 which he reached earlier this month. He's only moved up 20 or so places from where he was this time last year. He made a semi-final in week 3 of the GB 1 satellite, qualified for a challenger in India before losing 6-4, 6-4 to Hyung Taik-Lee in rd1, in May he qualified for a challenger in Uzbekistan and reached the quarters and in June he reached a futures quarter-final in Turkey.
Sadly there appears to be no scoring or anything for this match. The Murray match is being replayed so hopefully after that's finished they might show a bit of Baker-Bubka.
I agree, great chance for Jamie to win a tie. I predict him to win in 2
i was really annoyed the beeb didn't show this match, if they'd had something else to show then fair enough but they showed a repeat of the match just played
why was the match a best of three? are all dead rubbers shortened like that? Shame Jamie couldn't get a win under his belt.

Who can fathom the workings of the BBC. . .
It's quite possible that after showing the final dead rubber against Israel, they reckoned that not enough of us watched it, so decided against this time. Whether this is true of not, the BBC is supposed to be able to provide for niche markets through services like BBCi.
Shame Jamie lost though i'm sure he took a lot away from this weekend though. As long as he can apply it, which i'm sure he can.
