Great couple of weeks for Katie O'Brien. Keen has a SE into Nantes, but where's Katie going next??

Nowhere, after 4 finals in 2 weeks she's having a week off and then playing Jersey/Glasgow I believe.

is Noami having a week of as well? Unless she is tired i think she needs to keep building on this momentum and try to get in the top 300 by the end of the year.

such a close final! Great to see such competitiveness and hopefully a few of the girls can really breakthrough together....

Fantastic result for Katie O'Brien This is her first 25K title.

Also, it's been a superb week for Amanda and Naomi

Katie is now the British no 3 as I make it that she'll move up to 187 on the 9th October.

The final was moved indoors after just 1 game and Katie lost the next 7 points. However, she broke back and it went with serve until 5-5 when Amanda broke and held to take the 1st set. Amanda broke early in the 2nd set to lead 3-1 but Katie broke back and took advantage of Amanda's nerves to take the breaker. Katie was the more comfortable in the decider and she broke at 4-4 and then held to take the title.

Afterwards, Katie admitted she had feared the worst when the bad weather forced them indoors and on to a slightly quicker surface.

“I was a bit apprehensive because the last indoor match I’d played was last winter,” said O’Brien, who beat Jane O’Donoghue, Georgie Stoop and French duo Nadege Vergos and Florence Haring on the way to the final.

“I lost the first seven points after we moved inside, but we both adapted very well and the standard of tennis was high.”

O’Brien said that she is delighted to have claimed her first $25K title after two near misses this year.

“I know it’s a bit of a cliché, but I was hoping it was going to be a case of third time lucky,” she said.

“I wasn’t nervous at all and I think nerves had played a part in my last two $25K finals.

“I knew Amanda hadn’t won a $25K title either, so it was new territory for both of us.”

Katie's now training at Queens club this week before playing Jersey and Glasgow 25Ks.

Naomi's having a week off. I think that's probably because of the number of senior events she's limited to per year. She should get wcs into Jersey and Glasgow.
