it is a difficult situation now with the 3 brits left and only 1 can progress. I think andy should make it through but we will have to see how his 'injury' holds up. it is just my imagination or is andy a bit of a drama queen when it comes to injuries? remeber the nheck brace at the DC tie, Alex should have come out on cruthces :)

if andy beats tim i think he will beat boggo, i think boggo would fancy his chances better againt tim too. but this is a great opportunity for al, even if he loses, to play well and say to JL see i can play!

I agree, Andy's the massive favourite to make it through but Henman will surely fancy his chances after having given Andy such a close match in Cinci and with it being indoors and with Andy jetlagged, having to switch to a totally different surface and having a slight injury. I think alex would have a reasonable chance of doing well v tim, he's beaten him before in an exhibition match.

I think it's a little unfair about andy, he is a drama queen on the court but in that DC tie he really did injure his neck and I think at that point he was still hoping to play an ATP that coming week.

i wonder if andy and tim were watching alex's match, maybe even giving him some encourgaement. i would imagine al will try and get him self a good seat to see the tim/andy match.

thanks for the scores UBF.

Well done Boggo! He'll move up 4 places on the table with two of those final. And great to see the beeb reporting it, just a shame Aucks didn't get a mention.

I'm going to really struggle come the second round with who to support. Of all three Alex would benefit the most from a quarters appearance. I think I'll just watch the match with curiousity and not want any particular outcome!

Boggo and Aucks both have good reports on BBC SPort website now!

Well done to both of them!!!

I can't believe that this win only guarantees Boggo 2 spots in the rankings!

its only worth 15 points, which is similar to most challenger qf's and as he is defending 5 points the rise is only small. Really at this level you need to be getting at least 20 point gains and really 30 point ones that make any difference.

Well done to Alex beating his higher ranked opponent and making the 2nd round at an ATP tour event for the 2nd time this year. Pity he has to play Murray/Henman in the next round though. Only if Sky Sports showed early round coverage here at Bangkok and would show the 2nd round all British clash.

al on his win, from telegraph:

I'm 22 now and the pressure is gone, really," he said after his victory. "You've got to take those opportunities. I'm aiming to break into the top 100, and the only way I'm going to get better is trying to challenge myself against the better players."

The match was highly entertaining, although played in a dead atmosphere on the secondary court. Both players combined finesse and power, and each set was closely contested.

Bogdanovic double-faulted on set point in the tie-break and then conceded the first set. But a break for 3-2 secured the second, and after an exchange of breaks early in the third Bogdanovic broke to lead 5-4 and won on his fourth match point.

"I think it was very important that at the beginning of the second set I got that momentum and broke early on," Bogdanovic said, "because after the first set I was obviously a little bit disappointed."
