It was an extremely good performance from Jamie considering that he hasn't played singles since April and Zverev is much higher ranked and particularly good indoors with his big hitting game.
Jamie's serving was very good today, 73% 1st serves but the big problem for him was that he was only winning 60% of his 1st serve points and with that percentage you'd expect to be winning 75%+ of your 1st serve pts. Zverev was always threatening on the Murray service games particularly as Jamie only won 39% of the points on his 2nd serve. I wonder if Jamie's taken the pace off his 1st serve and gone more for placement and a high percentage - these factors are much more important in doubles where I read that you should aim to get a lot more of your 1st serves in as you're aiming to set your partner up at the net rather than going for outright service winners as in singles.
I reckon the 2nd set would have been a lot closer if Jamie had taken one of those 3 break point chances in the 5th game, after that he seemed to either lose concentration or give up hope
Thanks for the commentry. Always dissapointing to lose but Zverev is a tough opponent and it is great to see Jamie entering singles draws and performing pretty well.
Alex gets pretty much the best draw possible: He plays Wang of Taiwan who is ranked 130th. Should he win, he play the winner of Murray and Henman. I can't see him getting past the 2nd round, but winning against Wang will give him some points and $9,000.
Edit: I've found a swear word that is missing from the site's dictionary! I transposed the last letter of Alex's opponent's name with a K. Not sure what I was thinking! Anyway, apologies if you read it before I made the correction!

Yet it wouldn't let me type the name of the Russian player Mikhail Lifs hits without inserting that space!
