I agree, it's a fantastic opportunity for them to make the quarters and actually, the semis given that they're seeded 4th. They won't get many better chances than this.
Making the semis would surely take Jamie close to the top 100
points are basically the same as the singles points, except that the second round is "missed out", so goes
round 1: 5; qf's 40, sf's 75, f 120, w: 175
"misses out" the 15 points that you get for 2nd round singles - so big jump for getting through a round. so when jamie / james reached wimbledon 3rd round, they got a bumper 150 points i think!
eek break down in 2nd - thought match was in the bag!
Grr Auckland/Delgado are broken and trail 1-3 in the second set.
In answer to UBF's earlier question regarding rankings. The points for doubles are the same as the points for the singles but because there is no second round the points 'jump' up to quarters level after only one match is played. So if the boys win they will get 40 points each.
Auckland is defending 16 points from Grenoble last year so 40 points would see him to roughly 89 in the rankings.
Delgado is defending 1 point from Grenoble last year so 40 points would see him jump to about 127 in the rankings.
however they have to win first and they are currently trailing 1-4. Only one break though so

A/D still trailing a break in the second. S/G about to serve for the set. As far as I can tell from the stats the main difference between the two teams in this set is that A/D have failed to take the break points, winning 0/6 whereas S/G did manage to get one, winning 1/4. Other than that I can't see much difference between the two, if anything the stats favour the Brits.
Hopefully they can get the break back as Sanguinetti serves for it, otherwise it's CTB time and anything could happen.

Excellent news! They did break back. it must have been to love or 15 because I didn't catch any scores on the scoreboard! 5-4 now. They must hold here.

What a shame after all that hard work in breaking back but A/D simply didn't take enough of their chances in the 2nd set, so it's now going to be a champions tiebreak to decide things. A good start for A/D is absolutely vital here
