Certainly does look like it...

As James goes for in the singles.. It looks like his opponent is more likely to be Wesley Moodie as it's 1 set all and he's a break up in the 3rd with Bopanna serving at 3-5.

If they do get a walkover that'll be really good for them as it will allow Delgado to acclimatise better and Auckland to retain his energy for the singles.

His second round opponent is Moodie who beat Bopanna 64 in the third.

Unfortunately it looks as though Sanguinetti is still going to play the doubles, the match is on the order of play - 1st on court 2 starting at around 11.30 am GMT. If he had withdrawn he would have probably done it before the order of play was released.

There isn't any info on the drawsheets as to why he retired so we don't know whether it was an actual injury or just a headache/cramp/sickness etc

Hopefully it will affect him and Galvani in the match

It looks like Sanguinetti and Galvani are a first time pairing which is good news for Auckland and Delgado. I think that's because Galvani's been on the challenger circuit for a long time and has only recently broken onto the ATP tour.

Sanguinetti is ranked 120 in doubles [peaked at 78 in 2003]. His best result in doubles this year was reaching the final of ATP Zagreb indoors in January aswell as winning the Recanti challenger in July.

Galvani is ranked 384 in doubles [peaked at 151 in 2002, since then he's concentrated on singles]. He's lost his last 5 doubles matches, some at challenger level, his highlights in 2006 in doubles have ben reaching 2 challenger semis

I'm confident of Auckland and Delgado winning this one

I presume you meant overseas UBF?

I remember bloomers and delgado playing at washington in 2005, along with tim and greg - however they were both in as LL's so doesn't really count!

great win for james - will have a good chance if bopanna can beat moodie.  think its a possiblity as moodie coming in from the cold - both figuratively and literally i imagine!

Yeah I was thinking overseas. I thought of earlier this year when Parmar qualified but I hadn't realised that Tim, Greg and Andy had all played in the same week. I'd also forgotten that Delgado got into Washington and all those ATPs Mackin got into as a lucky loser last year !

Akhenaten, here's your next challenge. When was the last time we had 4 Brits in the singles main draws of ATPs plus 2 British pairs in ATP doubles main draws all in the same week [British tournaments don't count].

such high rewards for reaching the 2nd round of atp events due to doubles points scoring system - effectively "jumping" a round points-wise!

so important that james/ jamie get through this, should send both up to career high doubles rankings!

2-1 first set to the brits

What are the points for reaching an ATP doubles quarter-final ?

I agree, it's a fantastic opportunity for them to make the quarters and actually, the semis given that they're seeded 4th. They won't get many better chances than this.

Making the semis would surely take Jamie close to the top 100

G/S serving [Sanguinetti]:

15-0

30-0

40-0: ace

Game: ace

3-3

It looks like A/D's best chances of breaking will come on the Galvani serve, Sanguinetti is serving big at the moment.

That's a super hold, coming back from 15-40 down. Now lets hope they can start to put some pressure on the Italians. They've yet to do so in this match
