Martin Lee accepted a wild card and is the top seed. He plays qualifier Brassington in round one.
Daniel Cox gets his usual slice of horror, this time in the form of seventh seed Lee Childs. I was rejoicing Childs' return to form, and now I regret it. But come on young Daniel, give it your best and you'll do it.
Brilliant news for Evans as he faces qualifier Tom Burn. Definitely a good opportunity for him to get his first ranking point.
Slabba plays Jonathan Chu (WR 547) of the USA, so it's not bad.
Wild card Rob Searle plays Martin Fischer (WR 559) of Austria. Would love to see him progress.

(6) Gero Kretschmer GER vs Philipp Oswald AUT [LL] Patrick Briaud USA vs Christoph Steiner AUT Ian Flanagan vs David Klier GER Tom Rushby vs (2) Richard Bloomfield
Great result for David Brewer, shocker for Bloomfield!!
Most of the other results, although disappointing, go with the form book.
Brewer is ranked 563 spots lower than Niland who has been winning quite abit and in good form.
Rushby is ranked 490 spots lower than Bloomers, who needs to get his head together. He shouldn't even be playing these futures any more, let alone losing in the first round.
Bloomers not playing in Notts next week so a little strange he turned up for this one and declined to play a Challenger - maybe he thought he would be in the DC squad?
Matthew Taylor bt Patrick Briuard (USA) 1072 and 4th seed - 62 62
Ross Connolly bt Thomas Kostro (Aut) 62 61
Illingworth bt Miller 61 64
Greenland bt Allinson 75 26 61 (good call UFF!)
Mt Lowe beat Scott Dickson 62 67(3) 64
Great results for 19 year olds Kyle Brassington and Matthew Taylor Brassington had never beaten anyone with more than 1 world ranking point until yesterday, so that's quite a shock result. Unfortunately both of them have drawn short straws in rd1. Brassington has top seed Martin Lee and Taylor has 4th seed Rameez Junaid
However there are good opportunities for several of the other qualifiers to gain another ranking point. Ross Connolly plays Thomas Greenland and Matt Lowe plays Matt Illingworth. Connolly has a bigger game than Greenland so I reckon he'll win and I've never seen either Lowe or Illingworth before, but Illingworth's qualifying results look slightly more impressive on paper, so I'll predict him to get his first world ranking points.
It looks very much like there's going to be a Lee-Marray quarter-final showdown. Marray plays an Austrian leftie clay-court specialist in rd1 - Armin Sanbichler. Sanbichler has had some great results on clay this year, winning two futures but on faster surfaces his results haven't been that good.
The winner of Irwin and Bamford could play Marray in rd2. Richard got in as a lucky loser. They've played twice before, Bamford won 6-3, 6-3 on clay in 2005 and he won 6-4, 1-6, 7-5 in Greece earlier this year. Given Richard's result in qualifying, I reckon that Bamford is likely to make it 3-0 on head-to-heads.
Slabba has a decent draw against Jonathan Chu, an American ranked 547 who claims to have 3 coaches, a rarity among lower ranked players. He seems to have his best results on hard courts in the far east having won a futures title in China earlier this year, and in August he reached two semis in Thailand. However, he hasn't played since mid-August so hopefully he's very rusty.
Daniel Cox has had a huge amount of bad luck in the players he draws in rd1 of futures. Harsh Mankad, Dave Sherwood, Stephane Robert and several guys ranked in the 300s in Spain. His run continues with Lee Childs in rd1. Dan Evans gave Childs a very close match a year ago - it was 7-5, 6-4 so hopefully Cox can emulate that.
Dan Evans has had much more luck, drawing qualifier Tom Burn in rd1. Burn retired last year but appears to be making something of a comeback. On his return in March he beat Irwin and Mackin before losing to Bloomfield. He played in July, losing to Rob Searle and he's returned again after a 2 month break. He was described by someone who watched him in 2005, as a very talented shot-maker, but he has the tendency to get a bit down on himself and lose his temper when things start to go wrong which holds him back.
Rob Searle plays Martin Fischer. Fischer has reached two futures finals this year in Austria but he is a clay courter so Searle has a chance.
