So far, one G1 event in January and no senior events. Is a new Tara to be revealed in the summer season? Or is there an injury? Well, I hope the former of course.
The time she spent not playing (probabaly due to injuries) has affected her Junior ranking a lot - I'm afraid it'll make sense if she stops playing Juniors altogether now. Given her potential, next year should be her last in Juniors and if she's to have a chance at the Slams, she needs to finish this one inside the top 40. That will be tough given after her points from the G3 in US come off in three week's time, she'll have hardly anything.
Thought I'd use this as the Wimbly qualies thread is bein currently being used for more interesting stuff.
Very impressed with Tara's result considering the injury. Does the first round loss get her points?
I think she'll now do the women's tourneys on grass. She's also down for a G1 on clay in Germany from 8th July.
I'm not very happy with her doing normal Juniors once again. Tara's just too highly rated for that! I want her playing just the Junior Slams and their respective warm ups till next Wimbly and maybe Eddie Herr and Orange Bowl where she can get WCs.
Yeah, but most top players don't play Juniors regularly after their 16th birthday. I think Tara should try to get into exhos like Liverpool whenever possible to make up for the lack of tournaments.
I personally love what Larcher De Brito did with the problem of being too good for Juniors but too young for WTA - World Team Tennis. It gives the opportunity to play against quality players (which the Junior Tour often lacks) and money (which the Junior Tour always lacks), too. Obviously Tara will need to improve to get into a team (I think - no idea as I don't follow it), but she has that option with her American base.
Of course, Tara withdrew from the two G1s and is playing in Felixstowe and Frinton. Thank God that that is the case!
Sadly Tara will be made to play 16 and under tennis at the Euros. This means she doesn't get to finish her quota of tournaments at Junior or women's level and also now she may not get a good seeding at USO Juniors qualies.
Why are the LTA so hell bent on screwing up our top Juniors? Who knows... sometimes I wonder if they're plainly ignorant or if there's something else.
Smart girl. Hopefully she'll stay in Asia for another week (at least).
She can play 13 tournaments between now and next August, which is just too low! Hopefully she'll do around five this year and seven next year, plus Wimbledon where she can get a main draw wild card if she progresses enough.
