Andy Murray Vs. N.Davydenko [RUS] (7)

Well this could be a very intersting match up, as i think Murray will want revenge for the defeat earlier in the year. Lets see how good his fitness is if he goes another five setter. I think Today's performance against Gonzalez was brilliant. The middle part of that game gonzo was hitting unbelievable shots and his serve outwide was killing murray bit he fought through it amazing and as for those winners at the end , he kept the special ones till the end.

Jumping the gun a bit, Davydenko is still playing Kubot - OK, he is serving for the match now, so I'm sure you will be right!

As long as Andy doesn't go flat after this last match - as he did at Wimbledon, not putting up much resistance to Baggy after beating Roddick - I think he should win this one. Although admittedly Davydenko beat him at Indian Wells, Andy was not in good form himself then (and didn't have Gilbert to motivate him)

Looks like a Tuesday match ?  The Pundits reckon than Andy will win by the thinnest of margins!  Just off to arrange another gross of cushions and see if I can un-jam the Hoover.  *LOL*

Yes, not on today's OOP. Thank goodness I have a day to recover - last night I was a complete nervous wreck!

This will be a very tough match and Andy will have to play very well to win. Davydenko is a very solid and consistant performer with no obvious areas of weakness.

i think murray will blast davydenko off the court. Ive gone for murray in 4. Davy is Mr Consistency and yes he won New Haven but he played no-one of real quality.

He seems to have trouble against decent players. In winning his other two tournament this year he didn't beat anyone ranked higher than 58. In two other tournaments he's got to the final in he didn't play anyone ranked inside the top 37 but then lost in the final of each to top 10 players.

He also has a bit of a reputation for dodging tournaments involving top players and has only played 5 top 10 players this year, losing 4 of them. Almost 40% of his ranking points have come from 5 international series events. That is amazing considering he's played in 14 bigger events: 9 MS + 4 GS + 1 TMC. (Speaking of which, am I correct in thinking that people competing in the Masters Cup get 19 tournaments towards their rankings while everyone else only gets 18?)

Anyway, I'm liking Andy's chances now.

Yes, that's right, those in the Masters Cup effectively get to count 19 tournaments.

That's an amazing stat about the Undertaker by the way. Even before seeing that, I thought it was all in Andy's own hands whether he wins or loses tomorrow. Despite Davydenko being ranked so high, I think if Andy plays anything like his best, he should wipe the floor with him, but if Andy's serve's not firing and he's a bit flat, Nikolay will punish him for sure.

OoP for Tuesday

Andy's first up on Armstrong at 11.00 local time. Think that makes it 16:00 BST, 17:00 CET?

Anyone know if the Louis Armstrong court has Hawk-eye?

Pretty sure it does, hopefully he's got used to using the system used it brilliantly to save a set against Ginepri, and hopefully this means he won't get any more bad calls

Andy said of this match "He's the best returner in the game, statistics show that, so there may be quite a few breaks"... That made me chuckle.

i saw what may have been a miss quote in todays sun, murray talking about his fittnes says he won 2 5 set DC matches, but i disintivylr remeber him losing the doubles - unless he blames jamie on that one

how do we think andys fittness will hold up? and under the pressure? davy has been here b4, but i remember him sometimes struggeling too (from heat exhaustion maybe). i think murrays biggest problem could be that he isnt always consistent, i think his fittness should be ok as his 1st two matches werent too tough.

I think Andy will be fine fitness wise, he didn;t look to tired after the Gonzo match, he has had a day break and on SSN he said he doesn't feel tired at all and he is the best judge of that.
