Tim begins the week by getting back into the top 60! Beating Greg might take him up to 55th, assuming his competitors get knocked out early.
His move up to 59th is because of a Agassi, Coria and Sanguinetti losing points and diving down the table.
Other losers are Wawrinka, Clement, Phau, Karlovic, Greul and Goldstein, while Lopez and Shuettler drop off the bottom of Tim's table.
Big gainers, generally from defending only 5 points from last year are: Mayer,Rochus, Melzer, Gicquel, Garcia-Lopez, Hajek, Goldstein.
No- one can overtake unless they reach the third round. However Kohlschreiber, Rochus, Bracciali, Melzer, Mahut, Coria and Lee will overtake if they get that far, and Tim goes out in R1.
Again, more detailed pinning plans from Imoen later (hopefully!)
Well, Tim, what can we say. Based on the assumption that he won't get beyond the second round but will reach it, we need some frantic pin work to eliminate: Mirnyi, Mathieu (extra pins, he plays a Brit!), Fish and Horna. If these four all go out in the first round, Tim will overtake them all by reaching the second. If they all win the first round then he can't overtake anymore people (sorry folks but there's no way he'll beat Federer), and anything in between results in anything in between - you get the picture.
We can then move on the people behind Tim. The nearest (Kohlschrieber) is 21 points behind, which is good because it means he is the only one who can overtake with a first round win (and a first round loss for Tim). Below him is any number of players all of whom will be trying to overtake (no respect for their elders you see) but we'll turn our attention (and pins) to them after the first round results are in and we know whose left.
So, it could be worse for Tim, he is lucky in that he has a 21 point cushion to the nearest rival but if any of them get a couple of rounds in that advantage will dissappear and it could be a massacre to his ranking . I expect Tim to go out in the second round, overtake a couple of the players I mentioned, be overtaken by three or four people from behind and so end the week at around 59/60.

A numeber of def2 points added, which affect Kohlschreiber, Bracciali, Greul and Hajek. Otherwise 18th & 19ths again, which don't affect the players in Grand Slam week. Will have to update these once ATP is up
We still need pins into Mathieu, Mirnyi, and Horna but good work on Ramirez Hidalgo (especially as I'd missed him in my last post!) shame about Fish. Tim, by winning round 1 now has a certain gain of one place (R-H)
Behind, it's still a case of no one can overtake before round 2 even if Tim were to lose so I'll save the pessimism for tomorrow!

Good start for Tim: Garcia- Lopez and Montanes are both out behind him. Unfortunately, Horna and Mayer have both won ahead of him, so he's now relying on Josh to beat Mathieu, or he'll only gain the one place if he wins.
The table's updated. Tim ended up advancing just the one place. He's on the same points as Mirnyi, but unfortunately the Beast has more points from mandatory events so is placed ahead of Tim.
Only Mirnyi went out ahead of Tim, as Mayer, Horna and Mathieu all advanced. All are within reach should they lose and Tim beat Federer
Behind him, Mahut advanced and is looking threatening. Luckily, he plays Davydenko next.
Gicquel, Goldstein, Moodie and Hajek also advanced.
Kohlschreiber, Melzer, Coria, Seppi, Monaco, Garcia- Lopez and Montanes all dropped out, significantly reducing the threat from behind
As Rob said, Tim made just the one place yesterday because our pins didn't work.
A win against the Fed would gain Tim a possible 7 places (Youzhny, Mayer, mathieu, Fish, Horna and Mirnyi) Of those one (mirnyi) is definite. The rest require some serious pin work!
Looking more realistically, behind:
Mahut is next in line but needs to reach the fourth round to overtake, plus he plays Davydenko next.
Lee and Phau must also reach the fourth to overtake, they are playing Robredo and Malisse respectively in the second.
After them, Gimelstob, Gicquel, Goldstein, Moodie, Hajek, Lopez, Spadea, Sluiter, Di Mauro, Hernych must reach the quarters. But, only 6 of them can do so altogether.
So, there are quite a few competitors breathing down Tim's neck but I expect that number to greatly reduce after the second round when the men will be sorted from the boys.

Youzhny and Moodie advance. Fish, Horna, Lee, Phau, Gimelstob and Lopez go out.
A very good day for Tim. there's a long gap behind him now, with only Mahut within 100 points. It's cleared up a bit ahead too. That Federer win guarantees him 3 places!
