Well, with Robredo losing so spectacularly it's all going swimmingly for Andy should he win! He now has a guaranteed 6 places to gain.
Other than that what will happen to Andy above the table is the same as yesterday so check back at that post for the optimism.
Behind Andy things are going pretty well also.
Closest competitor is now Hewitt who will overtake if he wins his quarterfinal and Andy goes out before the semi (ie loses against Davydenko or the next person).
Youzhny is doing far better than he should so lets put a few pins in him, although he can't overtake unless he wins and Andy loses before the semis.
Finally, Gicquel and Safin can both overtake by winning.
So worst case now is a loss of two places (Hewitt plus one of the three to win), to 18 still one place up on last week.
I'd say that today our main efforts need to be directed at Davydenko please.

Well I think I was suspected on here once of being a murderer because of a flippant remark, so mere devil worship is nothing!
It's all in fun, folks, hopefully to generate a bit of interest in matches we otherwise couldn't care about. If is was not for ranking tables I don't think I'd be waiting with bated breath for the results of a match between, say, Pless and Martin. . .
Before this match Haas was already 200 points ahead of Andy so the chances of him overtaking anytime soon are low, Safin on the otherhand was a major threat to both Murray and Henman so get rid of him. Of course, we want Haas to lose next round for that very reason.

Roddick, Haas and Youzhny advance. With Youzhny out of there, the table's changed to stretch from number 5 to number 35. (I think I'll shrink it further when we're out of Masters Series weeks)
Andy, Hewitt and Berdych are knocked out.
There's only Youzhny left behind, so the worst possible outcome is Andy at number 17, with Mikhail Youzhny the US Open Champion.
Haas is out, so his points are pegged at 300 more than Andy. But what we REALLY need now is for Roddick to beat Youzhny - come on, A-Rod, make some recompense for your nastiness last time you played our Andy!
